Loretta's Authentic Pralines — Restaurant in New Orleans

We came here specifically for the crab beignets on the recommendation of fellow foodie family members. Upon entering we noticed that this place was visited by both locals and adventurous tourists, such as my partner and I. You order at the counter and have the option of take-away or to stay and eat at one of the 10-12 tables you have located around the store. The 2-3 staff behind the counter taking orders were nice enough however they seemed a bit overwhlemed. They had trouble balancing taking each customer's order, keeping the tables clean and bringing out the orders from the kitchen; the one trash bin they had was overflowing with garbage and no one seemed to want to empty it. We ended up waiting over 30 minutes for our 2 crab beignets and a sweet potatoe pie. I had to speak to one of the staff to ask for a follow-up as they had forgotten about our order. To add insult to injury, the bottle of aioli sauce the server brought to our table to go with the crab beignets did not last more than 90 seconds before another server came and took it away as she needed it for another table. This place is AMAZING!!! We were in fat kid Heaven!!! My husband and our 2 children entered this establishment on a Friday around 11 a.m. The waitress was nice and provided recommendations on the food. We ordered the brownie, the praline cookie, the sweet potato cookie, the chocolate chip cookie, seafood beignet, and praline beignet. The sweet potato cookie is something like I have never tasted. I don't even like sweet potato pie, but this cookie is in a class all its own. The praline cookie was great, but it didn't compare to the sweet potato cookie for me. I am not the target audience for the chocolate chip cookie, but I know it has one. The praline beignet was light and fluffy and had just enough powdered sugar on it. The seafood beignet was served with a sauce which was amazing!!! Just know you only get one in an order. The environment was nice and there were only 3 other tables when we got there. The beignets came out in about 10 minutes after ordering. We ate our cookies and brownies while we waited. Overall I give this restaurant a 10/10 for cleanliness, taste, and customer service. I am visiting from out of town and was told by various people to go to Loretta’s for the beignets. These are THEE best beignets, pralines and chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever tasted!! The wait is long (we waited over 40 minutes). However, it was worth it because wide these treats are so delicious.

I took a star off because of the terrible customer service I received. The cashier ( name on the receipt says Sky) made a very rude comment and displayed such irritation with me placing my order. I greeted her with a hello and smile, didn’t get one in return. I asked the cashier for half of dozen pralines her immediate response was something to the tune of “Idk why y'all come in ordering all of this right before we close”. I asked her what does that mean? She said “nothing” and continued to take my order with no help smile or friendliness. I understand how it feels to service so many people right before closing, but why should I have to receive such unwelcoming commentary and attitude as a paying customer.
