Read moreDining at San Lorenzo in New Orleans was an experience from start to finish. The decor is elevated yet inviting, the service is impeccable, and every dish, from the first oyster to the last bite of dessert, was executed with thought and finesse.
We began with a stunning Oysters on the Half Shell platter (Alabama, Washington, and Prince Edwards) complete with freshly grated horseradish, cocktail sauce, and mignonette—clean, cold, and briny perfection.
For pastas, we shared the Lumache, a creamy, luxurious vodka-sauced pasta topped with whipped burrata, and the Linguine Vongole, a textbook version with tender clams, breadcrumbs, and chili oil. Both were standout dishes.
The entrées didn’t let up. The Bistecca alla Fiorentina was sliced tableside, perfectly medium rare, with roasted garlic and rosemary, an indulgent showpiece. The Wood Grilled Half Chicken was juicy and beautifully presented, and the Chicken Parmesan was bold, saucy, and comforting. We also added Truffle Fries with a side of aioli to the table (because why not?) and they were impossible to stop eating.
And then came dessert… The Tiramisu was heavenly—light, creamy, dusted with cocoa and crowned with chocolate curls. We also tried the Chocolate Budino, which came with a quenelle of chocolate mousse and crisp chocolate wafers for crunch. Two scoops of gelato (vanilla bean and pistachio) were simple but outstanding. And as a final surprise, a celebratory pistachio cannoli with a birthday candle brought the night home with heart.
San Lorenzo nails the little details. It’s the kind of place where you linger at the table long after the plates are cleared, not ready for the night to end.
If you’re looking for an elevated night out that still feels warm and welcoming, San Lorenzo is it. I chose to celebrate my birthday with my family at San Lorenzo and we’re all happy I did. Bravo to the chef and team—New Orleans...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would. Never in my life have I had such an unpleasant dining experience until my visit to this restaurant. First off, points to the hotel. It's absolutely stunning, very vibrant and beautifully curated. Myself and three of my coworkers came for dinner this evening and a few minutes after we had been seated, one of the workers, who we would later discover was our server came and poured water. He said absolutely nothing. He did not greet us, introduce himself or state that he'd be our server for the night. The only thing he asked was if we were ready to get drinks. We put in our drink orders and I kid you not, waited 40 whole minutes until we had to flag someone else down (who turned out to be an employee of the hotel, not the restaurant) to inquire about our drinks. She actually stated that she had seen our drinks sitting on the bar. A minute later, our server returns with the drinks and then WE had to ask to put in food orders. At this point, we are being ignored the entire time we're dining. We put in appetizers and didn't even stay around to get entrees. The three times we saw our server the whole night was when he poured our water, brought our drinks and then dropped the check. He didn't say a SINGLE word the entire night. At the end, we asked about what we thought might've been a mistake on the check (my coworker had been charged 16 dollars for four pieces of shrimp on her salad, making her salad a total of 34 dollars- the price of most of their entrees)... Our server said we SHOULDVE BEEN CHARGED MORE. Now I know this sounds incredibly hard to believe but we were astonished!!! I will never go back here again in my life, I will never recommend this place. Absolutely, hands down the WORST service i've ever experienced. My salad was tasty though, compliments...
