Been a customer of this place since I was a baby, my family always gets stuff from here. When the food is good here and fresh, it could be a 5 star place. A minor issue is that if you buy from here, you better finish it within 3 days of purchase, sometimes less depending on the item. You could stretch it to 4 if you reheat certain items by toasting or microwave (choose wisely depending on the item). The big issue is that half the time the stuff here isn’t fresh. I’ve been coming here long enough that me and my family, especially me and my grandma, have a keen eye for when it is actually fresh and not dry/stale. Sometimes the stuff is days old or imported from other places that have had it made for who knows how long according to workers. But some workers will lie and say its fresh no matter what. These days if my family buys stuff from here for me or needs some help looking I either have to go with them or have them send pictures because this place is extremely unreliable quality-wise. But when it is good, the products here are great, the bread with the pineapple-looking surface is pretty good and the white bread and milk bread are good as well. Just look closely when you’re here or you might end up...
Read moreThis is also a bakery I never noticed in flushing before because it's door is so small, but their stuff is solid. I had their Taro Yuan Bao, which is so light and fluffy. The taro cream is delicious and wrapped in a yummy sponge cake. Their coconut jello consistency pastry in the fridge is also Delicious. I think their pineapple salted egg yolk crisp is as close to a Taiwanese Pineapple Cake from Taiwan as you can get in NY. I have tried many pineapple cakes and none taste like the ones from home, but theirs is very close to what I can get in Taipei, so I'm very happy about that. My family members also enjoyed their pineapple salted egg yolk crisp! Their green tea crisp and other mochi things are pretty good too. They also made a custom mango cake for me that had a layer of mango mousse cream and a pudding that seriously tasted like the pudding I ate when I was a kid in Taipei. I definitely recommend stopping by their bakery to try their stuff. Staff is very nice also!...
Read moreApollo Bakery is one of our favorite bakeries in Flushing and we visit them once a week or every 2 weeks. They are well-known for their Taiwanese style pastries, which is hard to find in NYC currently.
The options are in a great variety but with limited quantity, so some popular kinds would be sold out in the afternoon. Our favorites are their Custard collection like Pineapple Buns with Custard and Puff Pastry with Custard. The custard filling was creamy, rich and super satisfying.
There are only 2 complaints we have for improvement: Cash Only and the decor which is humble, narrow-spaced and it's...
