A friend recommended “Arturos” to our group while visiting NYC because they “have great live music, service & food”. It was immediately obvious we were at the wrong location because the restaurant is extremely small so there is no room for live music. We decided to just give it a shot because the food looked like it would be good but the experience started bad & just got worse. When we were seated, we were asked what we wanted to drink, we asked for a drink menu & were told “we have wine & all liquors” but no description or specials were offered. (no drink menu was ever provided) In the 50 minutes we were there, we were approached by the wait staff three times total. (the 3rd time was when we asked for our check) The first time was when we were seated, the second time (~25 minutes later) we were asked for our drink order, as my friend was ordering, the waiter WALKED AWAY. At this point we felt VERY uncomfortable & unwelcome. We decided we had to leave because the restaurant clearly didn’t want us to be there & trying to force us out. We believe that we were discriminated against because we were wearing jeans & not dressed up to their status- which is not a requirement to eat at the restaurant. Do NOT go here dressed casual if you want to be treated like a human being. The management & staff are rude & look down on you if you aren’t dressed...
Read moreMy friends and I ate here on a Sunday night. We didn’t plan to go here, we arrived too late to the restaurant that we planned to go to so we looked around on google and saw Arturo’s and decided to eat here since it was near by, we didn’t have a reservation and there were still tables open. Since we didn’t plan on coming here initially, we weren’t the correct attire (sweaters and jeans), however, they sat us down anyways.
I got one of the specials, the chicken Sorrentino. My friends got a carbonara dish and a veal dish.
The carbonara sauce was too thick but it was overall decent. The veal dish was really good, crispy skin and tender, the sauce was flavorful, the sauce for the side pasta tasted funny however. The Sorrentino was delicious, the chicken was thin but it wasn’t dry, the mash potatoes were perfect.
The atmosphere was quiet and dark. It was nice. The server was nice, the server assistants were very attentive and filled up our waters whenever they were low, however, we went late at night and we were the last few tables left.
Food time wasn’t too long or short. We didn’t order dessert but when we asked for our check they gave us a few cookies on the house. It was overall a...
Read moreThis was a great dining experience.
Ambiance: the restaurant is big but still gives off the cozy vibe. They have an upstairs and downstairs area for seating. I personally like the upstairs because it’s darker and has more of an intimate vibe. The downstairs area is well lit and creates a more friendly/big group vibe.
Drinks: They have a full bar and can make most cocktails. They also have a great wine selection that is fairly reasonably priced.
Food: When you sit down they give you fresh celery, carrot sticks, and olives. It’s a great starter. After you order they give you freshly baked, hot bread. It was so good and their olive oil was the perfect compliment. As vegetarians, the pasta option didn’t appeal to us exactly and the restaurant was very accommodating. They made us our own versions and we very much appreciated that. The pasta sauce tasted super fresh. I think the last time I had such fresh pasta sauce was in Italy. Pasta was cooked perfectly. The seasoning was on point - it didn’t taste bland or over seasoned. They gave us delicious Italian cookies for dessert.
