The Five Lamps — Restaurant in New York

This place has a vibe. But it’s not a vibe for everyone, including myself. First time and last time there. I am asian and I felt very uncomfortable from the beginning. For many reasons. People leave their beer at the bar unattended for long periods of time. Not even covered. What if someone decided to put something in it or I decided to just drink it. At first walking in I was treated by a friendly man I assumed was the manager. But then he was just sitting at another table. My friend and I did not stay for more than an hour. The male bartender wasn’t friendly or respectful. I wish I could have spoke to the other bartender. It was very loud inside and I considered going outside but it didn’t seem that the service was faster outside. We wanted to order food but the bartender never came to us and we tried to order. We wanted to order food and he never approached ask if we were ready. You can’t assume we just want drinks. Then we decided we were finished and wanted the check but it’s so loud that he couldn’t hear that we wanted the check. We tried to tell him multiple times. And finally we get him to bring the check and he slaps it down ready for us to get out of there. Which we gladly left as fast...

If you want to be yelled at in front of the entire restaurant by your server then you should go there. The servers never brought us water, forgot about our drink orders, didn’t clear the table, and tried to have me leave after sitting down and ordering a round of drinks because my friends were three minutes away. John (the Irish server) screamed at us for tipping below average and when asked about the service we informed him about the issues and having to constantly flag them down to get water or even place an order. We were basically told that if we came in again then we should let them know we would be bad tippers because then our food would come out last… I then left my bag after being hurried out by this scene and he informed me that it was karma and said he didn’t care. As someone who has frequented this establishment a multitude of times, I don’t feel welcomed or wanted to return. This did happen to be trivia night and I know that’s a busy time, but the service still wasn’t...

Tried to call to see if reservations were needed; no one answered & vm was full, sent 2 messages. Waited about 15 minutes for waitress. Managed to flag 1 down only when she finally out to help someone else; she apologized for not knowing I was there since she works inside. (Someoneappeared later after I ordered.)

Considered ordering cocktail/app but was underwhelmed w/ the choices. No water.

Ordered the hamburger WITHOUT cheese. It came out with cheese. Had to go inside to find waitress who, at least, said I wouldn't be charged the extra cost.

It was decent but way too small to justify the $18 price although the potato wedges were good.

No desserts listed but at that point I didn't even bother to inquire.

In the ladies room 1 stall had no paper & other had a pile of (hopefully unused) shreds on the stalls stand.
