Similar to a Eataly but DIY, as you make your own pasta and you have a three course meal as part of your experience. We came as a party for 2 for my friend’s birthday.
HOMEMADE PASTA EXPERIENCE You start by mixing the dough and you keep the dough, as the dough needs resting and it is time-consuming. The chef will give you extra prepared pasta sheets for you to play around. You can keep all the made pasta and your palm size dough to go home. It is a fun, hands-on, and educational experience. Very obvious to see if someone has worked in the kitchen before or not.
THREE-Course Meal Apps Eggplant Caponata Eggplant, raisins, celery, garlic, olives, tomatoes, paired with focaccia Tasted almost like teriyaki, really fun stringy eggplant mush of sweet and savory on the top of the a big focaccia bread.
Hot Honey Burrata Roasted tomato, basil, olive oil, paired with rustic bread Spiced and sweet and creamy mozzarella elevated with savory olive oil. The bread is super crunchy with large air holes. I really like this dish because it screams tasty, whether with or without bread. Mike’s spicy honey, bonus point.
Entrees (you choose a shape and a sauce/a set dish)
(Set-dish)There Cheese Meat Lasagna The cheeses are Ricotta, mozzarella, pecorino, with meat ground beef and short rib. Wooow one of the best lasagnas I had, better than then one I had in I Sodi. The cheeses are creamy, melty, elastic, savory, and accompanied well with the ground beef and extra-tender fatty ribs. The pasta sheets are hard or raw but perfectly al-dente, weird for non-noodle shape but it was the perfect resistance to the teeth without being too mushy. Highly recommend.
(Select shape and sauce) Squid Ink Bucatini with Sunday sauce (5usd extra) The squalid ink bucatini is hollow and is 3.5mm in diameter. Texture is perfect and the taste is yummy as it hosts both a meaty sauce and also the umami from the fish. The Sunday sauce is their own marinara sauce with short rib, sausage, and veal, a feast for meat lovers. All meats are braised to be gifted a collagen-rich mouth feel with each distinct texture. The sauce coats the bucatini well and produces a well-rounded dish that I nothing to say but to be silent to eat a mouth full.
Dessert Mansion Jar Sundae Mansion jar with layers of vanilla ice cream, brownie, fudge, Oreo cookie, and maple whip. It is exactly the taste that you would imagined. Good combo with smooth, crunchy, sweet and savory.
Doughnuts with salted caramel The doughnuts taste like eggy sponge cake, a bit denser than I imaged an airy doughnut but I don’t dislike it. Reminds me of the childhood sponge cakes made with lots of eggs.
The seatings are a bit crowded and the room is a bit limited. Understandable considering the area. The chef is super loud (former marine I believe) so don’t worry about not being able to hear the instructions.
Overall, I highly recommend this place. For the price you actually get around 8 servings of pasta (4 made in shapes and 4 in dough version), and a three course meal. I would bring a friend or a date to share this...
Read moreThis was the most disappointing meal and experience I’ve had in a long time. We made a reservation for last night, meant to make it for 3 people but accidentally made it for 2 instead. The hostess made a big deal about it and made us feel bad about the mistake and how difficult it would be to accommodate, despite the restaurant being half empty. We almost left after our first interaction with her because she was so rude, but we were so hungry we decided to stay. They sat us at a table where other people were already sitting, which was weird because half the other tables were empty, but it was fine. We were so excited to try the homemade pasta- 2 of us ordered carbonara and 1 pesto. The food was the most disappointing part of it all. We’re usually not the type of people who don’t finish our whole plates, but 2 of us couldn’t power through more than 1/4 each of our meals. The pesto had a very weird taste, with an aftertaste of like fennel or something of that nature that shouldn’t be there. The carbonara (which is usually my fave to order at places) was just gross. The pancetta was not crispy, and it was large chewy fatty-tasting chunks. And nothing was seasoned. It was as if no salt, pepper, garlic, parm, anything was used in either sauce to give anything flavor. Everything just tasted flat. And the food was barely even warm, which concerned me for a dish like carbonara that relies on the heat since you’re mixing in egg. The pasta itself was a cool shape that I hadn’t had before (mafalda), but that was honestly the only positive about this experience. When the waitress came to the table to ask if we wanted boxes for our leftovers (our plates were almost completely full still), we declined and I let her know very nicely that we really disliked our meals to the point that we couldn’t eat them, they came out cold and the pesto had a funny taste to it and the carbonara tasted bad. Her response was just “hmmmm!” as she grabbed our plates and whisked them off to the kitchen, and returned with our check. I wasn’t expecting anything from them for letting her know since we hadn’t said anything when we tried the food (not sure it would’ve mattered given the attitudes of the people working there), but a simple “I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your meal” or even just an acknowledgement that she heard me would’ve been nice. We also heard the people at the table next to us complaining about the food not being hot or seasoned, so it wasn’t even just us. I definitely will never be back to this restaurant again, and neither will the...
Read moreI first came across this restaurant experience on Instagram and always wanted to do a pasta making class. For the price it’s so worth the money as you get your value out of it. About 55$ per person without tip you get an appetizer, entree, and a dessert.
Let’s make one thing clear, you do not eat the pasta you make. You make your pasta from scratch you make a few varieties and you take it home.
This review would have received a higher mark but the waiters are horrible. By gods mean they need some help. We ordered a bottle of wine and it took 35 mins for us to get a glass not even the wine. The table next to us got up and left because they were fed up with the service and gave us there free bottle of wine. 35 mins for a glass and not even to bring our wine is ridiculous. The next issue was when we were ready to order the waiter gave us 3 seconds and said if your not ready I’ll come back and left. Which was rude. For a Monday night 3 pastas was sold out. Reservations for 7:45pm on a Monday and your sold out of 3 pastas for a pasta restaurant is very sad. The waiters just made the experience lack luster. The food was nothing memorable but everything tasted decent for the price. Would I come back here for dinner, maybe but only if I’m in the area or to do the pasta class.
On the bright side, the host for the pasta experience was the savior of the night. Super fun and well spoken. He’s very engaging and wants to show you a good time. He honestly saved the night because we were ready to get up and leave.
Overall the place is a fun date night spot but nothing started on time 7:45pm reservation we started making pasta at 8:40 almost an hour later. They did apologize but everything seemed unorganized. Not what I was expecting but it was an enjoyable experience...
