I worked on Sullivan Street when this place was first opened by a Jordanian man over 15 years ago, using his mother‘s recipes. He sold it many years ago, and most of the staff has been Mexican ever since, but from what I can tell…they were given his recipes! The food is always fresh, delicious, and the highest quality, and the service is still excellent. I’ve lived in NYC 25 years, but been to Tel Aviv and Jaffa many times, and I think this place is one of the 2 best falafel takeout restaurants in this city. The original owner did offer a whole wheat pita, which I thought was much better, but that doesn’t seem to be an option anymore. That is literally my only complaint. I ordered a chicken sandwich for $7.50, thinking it would be something similar to the grilled chicken breast with a light drizzle of tahini that I get at the famous middle eastern hole in the wall on MacDougal St. Instead it was shredded dark meat drowning in some sort of orange sauce (no idea of the ingredients as the sauce had no flavor), with some diced tomatoes on top. I especially love the chicken over rice with beets and apples with mint lemonade. Yummmmm!!! There are a couple of seats inside and outside! The place is on a little side charming street in Soho so it’s not loud and crowded. The staff are friendly and helpful. Very clean place!
