I will start by saying, we never got the opportunity to eat. I am making this review based upon the awful customer service we received last night when trying to go to Chubby Cattle for my friend's birthday.
I arrived at 7 PM, put my name on the list and was told by the hostess that there would be a 1-1.5 hour wait but that it could be sooner. Not a problem, we knew we'd likely wait for a walk in. We ended up going to a nearby bar to grab a drink while we waited.
Fast forward 2 hours to 9 PM when we're next in line on the reservation list according to Yelp. Very hungry at this point, but excited nonetheless. You could imagine the disappointment when we get to the restaurant and speak with the hostess. She asked us to wait a moment which turned out to be another 10-15 minutes before coming back out and telling us that unfortunately, they "thought the table they were going to put us at would be finished, but they're not and the kitchen closes at 9:30. So sorry."
As compensation for our two hours of wasted time and my four friends traveling in from New Jersey, we were offered a future reservation and the very enticing opportunity for a discount for their membership program! Who wouldn't want to join a membership of a restaurant that made you wait two hours just to tell you no.
Quite honestly, we all understood that things happen, but the fact that they didn't have the foresight to give me a call around 8:30 when it was clear it wasn't going to work out last night was strike one. Strike two was the fact that they didn't even have the decency to have a manager or someone come talk to us and apologize for the massive inconvenience and instead left it to the poor young hostess who we could tell felt absolutely horrible and uncomfortable. The third strike was the slap in the face regarding what we were offered for compensation. A discount on their membership after totally wasting our time and putting a big damper on my friend's birthday celebration.
I'm sure the food is great, but I'll gladly spend my money elsewhere after...
Read moreI’m usually a person that only writes 5 star reviews when I go somewhere that’s excellent. I avoid writing bad ones as I don’t like to complaint, or leave a comment that may potentially throw people off from giving someone their business. But I would remiss if I don’t share my experience at Chubby Cattle.
The restaurant says they weren’t accepting reservations but walk ins are welcome. We arrived at 7PM anticipating a wait time. We were told 1-1.5 hours, but possibly less. 2 hours pass and the waitlist on yelp said we were next. Went back to the front desk to check in and we were told we’ll be seated shortly.
Another 15-20 minutes pass only for the hostess to come out and tell us that they miscalculated and the tables aren’t ready, but unfortunately the kitchen closes at 9:30 so we won’t serve you.
I understand things happen and I would not be writing this if the situation would've been handled differently. But the fact that all they could offer us was a small discount, not on a future meal, but for a membership to the restaurant that just wasted over two hours of our time, left us hungry and essentially ruined my birthday dinner, is very audacious.
Not only that but the fact that a manager or supervisor didn’t have the decency to show their face and apologize, but sent the very young hostess that was visually uncomfortable by telling us these news (I mean who wouldn’t be? it’s just not right. You could tell she felt so bad, I felt bad for her), is just not professional at all.
I am very confident that the food is incredible, and the service once seated must be great too as I read all the reviews before committing to this place. I would’ve given them another shot if a manager would’ve apologized genuinely, but every possible thing that could’ve gone wrong did and worse. Very...
Read moreWe had really high expectations for this place, but it felt short for us.
Food was just okay, not top quality.
Service was the biggest disappointment. Our waitress kept saying she will come back to help us cook, but never did. I think she came by around 3-4 times to say that. My husband ended cooking the meat himself. I understand they were busy, but they have more than enough staff. 30 minutes into our meal she said we have about 30 minutes left to eat which we were shocked. Checked the time and we still have an hour to eat. She came around numerous time after that to check if we needed anything and to remind us of the time left in the 90 minute meal. We told her we’re pretty much done ordering and we were just finishing up the food we ordered. She brought us our check while we were still eating which was quite rude since we haven’t had our dessert yet. She kept coming back to see if we’re ready to pay while we were still eating. My husband finally told her to give us a few minutes to finish our dessert. We paid and was finally done. I went to use the restroom and she told the rest of the party at the table they can wait downstairs for me. I understand they’re busy and wanted to clear the table, but they should not be rushing people out especially when they’ve only been there less than an hour and we’re supposed to have 90 minutes. We checked in at 6:27pm and she gave us the...
