First time visitor turned forever patron. A coworker started showing up with iced lattes from 787 Coffee- an unusual switch up from the regular cups she lugs around. Curious, I inquired about the reason why she swapped her morning routine and I didn’t have to try it to know- it smells incredible despite it being iced. I ventured into the neighborhood one day on my way to work and noticed sunshine yellow tables and chairs with pastel colored chalk drawings on the sidewalk. Could this amount of cuteness belong to the coffee shop?? Yes honey. Yes. The door was propped open to circulate fresh breeze and wafted the aroma of the roasted coffee. I was so excited because my acute sense of smell has always led me right. I greeted a sweet person whose name was Carolina and introduced me to the shop, the initiative, the background from Puerto Rico, and the offerings here. I tried the Mazapan latte with oat milk and rum infusion over ice, which came in to-go bag that emulates portable alcoholic bags, which is absolutely hilarious, and also a humongous chocolate chip cookie. I love the coffee, food, and decor. I mean they are literally caffeinating the humans of Soho, and the vibe is super chill. Also have a reward program and multiple locations. Thanks for making my day Carolina. You...
Read moreI was here 2 days in a row. First day, it was really great, my order was a flat white. Beautiful crema, latte art and texture, full taste - as flat white should be (don’t get me wrong, I work as a barista as well). Really could say that wednesday’s barista did a great job. However, I was there on Thursday as well, we again ordered flat whites. Not only did baristas talk together and did not really focus on their work (it seemed like that), but also - are you really pouring the milk to the cup with the cup on the table while looking to your colleague? I have never seen this technique. I am very sorry if I am wrong but the coffee looks as cafe laté, the taste is very milky and no latte art as well. Also, before extracting the espresso - you should release the pressure otherwise you could burn the coffee and it applies for milk as well (english is not my first language, sorry if I am not explaining myself well). There is more about today, but I believe this was just some bad day and bad luck for us. Overall, I would recommend coming here, the coffee tastes better than at many places here in NYC - you can drink the coffee without burning your tongue and enjoy a beautiful...
Read moreSince I cannot respond directly, this is in response to Daria Koshkina. You may not have noticed, but I was standing right behind you at 787 Coffee yesterday, as was another person. I noticed a few things.
1- Your order was being handled well in spite of your confusing instructions. The woman handling your order was doing her job well while keeping up with your unsure tone. 2- After looking over your reviews, I noticed many of your 1-star reviews complain about the staff. Since it is usually staff that you pan, I have to believe that if anyone working that misses the beat of your offbeat way of communicating, gets a 1-Star review. No middle at all. Just remember, reviews like that can cost people their job(s). Plain speaking and clear understanding works every time. Remember, all of your 1-star ratings concerning staff from the various places you have been have one thing in common...you. 3- You left 787 Coffee smiling while saying thank you. Maybe you can add a star or two and be a little more gracious when reviewing.
Me, I like the place. They treat people well and make good coffee. What...
