So this is the new kid around the block with a lot of positive hype. On my third attempt, the bakery is finally opened to customers with inventory, the first two times I walk by during lunch and it closed down because they sold out of baked goodies.
Arrived here 8:20am, I would like to say 1/5 of the shelves were empty! Please note there are 3 staff during the morning rush, a cashier and an assistant bagger, and a barista. Due to short staffing, there was a covered rack of baked goods that were not place on display. How unfortunate!
Since they sell out so early, I was surprise the baked goods are not much different than the typical Chinese bakeries around. I see a lot of pictures of this cheese tarts, and puff pastries, no were available when I was there at 8:20am! Nabbed a chocolate bo lor Bao with a banana and chocolate filling, taste reminded of a thick banana chocolate crepe. Scallion bun was loaded with scallions but nothing to rave about.
Offers the typical assortment of cream filled buns, hot dog buns in cute animal shapes, and loaves of pre sliced bread. Also an assortment of Asian potato chips and bottle drinks. They offer the typical coffee, latte assortment.
Cute, instagram-able store front seating in shape of croissants and baguette. Not much seating but enough for the crowd...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stumbled across this place while navigating our way through Chinatown. We found ourselves walking in with no hesitation as the $1 egg tart sign on the outside accompanied by the sweet and buttery smell of the tarts wafted through the streets. To no surprise, the egg tarts were absolutely wonderful. Warm, sweet, creamy, flaky, and buttery, we couldn’t ask for anything more from a mid-day pick-me-up snack. We knew we had to visit once more before leaving the city. Before catching our bus at 9am a couple days later, we hurriedly made our way to Bake Culture to pick up a few breakfast items for our bus ride. After quickly scanning the racks of baked goods, we decided on a scallion bun, sausage bread, and of course—a couple of egg tarts. Although the egg tarts and scallion bread were great (as expected), the sausage bread was out of this world. It had a buttery flavor that’s hard to describe in words; almost an umami flavor hard to find in such a simple food such as this one. Although I could go on for days about our pleasant experience at Bake Culture, all I can really say is that you need to go try it for yourself. We’ll...
Read moreI only buy the strawberry cakes at this store. An 8 inch cake cost around $36. It comes with candles and a knife. When I don't want Taipan cake, I go here. It's similar to a Paris Baguette or Tous Les Jours. The breads are pricey so I avoid them. I took out one star b.c the consistency of the cake taste is not the same. I bought their cakes 3 times and they all tasted different. The cake with the Logitech mouse tasted too sweet and the design was lazily finished. The second one with the macaroon was the best tasting one. The third one with strawberry glaze is different, and would rate it last. Cake is moist (that's right i said it) and fruits taste fresh for the most part. They have green tea, blueberry, and chocolate cakes too. But i have not tried them yet. Customer service was good; staffs speak English...
