My experiences at BlueLane Cafe, both at Hudson Yards and Chelsea Piers, have been consistently disappointing. During my visit to the Hudson Yards location, I was charged for something I didn't order. Although the manager attempted to rectify the issue, the extra charge remained on my credit card. It’s a matter of integrity, even if it was a small amount.
Despite my hesitation to return, a friend insisted we give it another chance. Once again, the service was sloppy and careless. My coffee was cold, and my avocado toast lacked any semblance of quality—it was merely a black avocado placed on cold bread. My friend didn't enjoy her food either. Although the server replaced my avocado, the dish should not have been served in such poor condition to begin with.
Furthermore, we encountered issues with our receipts since we wanted to split the bill but were charged incorrectly, leading to frustration. I will never go back to BlueLane Cafe.
Last summer, I had a similar experience at the Chelsea Piers location, where the management and service were even worse. The waiter ignored customers, and people were leaving after waiting 10-15 minutes without any greetings or service. I spoke to the manager about this, but he seemed unequipped to handle the situation. Despite the beautiful location, the cafe is managed so poorly that we don't even consider getting anything when we pass by.
In conclusion, I have been extremely disappointed with the service and management at both BlueLane Cafe locations and would not recommend...
Read moreThe food was delicious - I'll give it that, and the vibes of this spot are cute. However, the service was absolutely not it. I'm disappointed and will not return.
I ordered the tomato soup and grilled cheese, and specifically requested the smaller size. The first time I got the soup, there was a brunette/blonde hair found in it - all the people in my table had jet black hair. I told the server and she seemed like she didn't know what to do, and just made a comment that "oh no one who works here has that hair." Excuse me? lol, it felt a bit gaslighty. She also seemed resistant to send it back to the kitchen, but she did anyways which I appreciated. Next, when we got the bills, they charged me for the larger size of the soup. I commented that I had ordered the small and the server tried to tell me I ordered the large, without accepting responsibility. I didn't want to be rude so I just said "it's okay" and they shrugged and said I'm sorry, so I just paid for the large anyways. Even if it was a large, I had specifically clarified with her when ordering that I wanted the small. It was the server's mistake and they should have just charged me for the small, especially given the fact they had to remake my order after finding a hair in it. She was rude.
Overall - an...
Read moreService is nice — the staff is super friendly. The location and atmosphere are great. But for $12 you get a breakfast sandwich that has ONE egg and they put cold cheese on it so the Sandwich is half warm half cold. I get that profit margins are tight in food service but it’s nyc and it’s the simplest thing to make well. They also use fake syrup for the pancakes. If I want Mrs butterworth on pancakes there are plenty of standard diner options nearby. If you want a good atmosphere and friendly people then this place is great. If you want to pay these prices for a nyc staple that is so much better in any street deli then that’s your prerogative. If a place gonna charge these prices make it worth it. Use real maple syrup and more than one egg. You can get a BEC on an awesome bagel down the street for $8-10 with 3-4 eggs and the whole thing is HOT. I ate my meal and have a rule against sending food back or making the staffs job difficult. It’s not their fault the owners don’t give them the resources to...
