This review is 2 months overdue, because I dined here early December, and yet, I write a review now because Los Tacos is STILL on my mind. I wish so much this food chain existed in Australia, as we have nothing that is as authentic as this, and fresh whilst meeting this price point. The spices are sourced from Mexico, cooked with the passion and authenticity of Mexicans and authentically Mexican in every way. I have never eaten any Mexican food in Australia that even comes close to as good as this (and trust me, we have some great food here), but you just can not beat what is homegrown. Miguel the manager is a credit to Hudson Yards as my daughter and I arrived late one night, extremely hungry after a big day of walking in NYC, and understanding the menu and system was a little challenging for us. Miguel, super friendly ,came right for us and guided us through understanding how to order, and even treated us to a complimentary off the menu special. It was so phenomenal, as was his service, that we then later on during ourtrip visited the Chelsea Market Los Tacos, and whilst that was also very good, there is just something much nicer about the Hudson Yards one. The ingredients at both is very fresh, note, this is not a seated area, its standing room only. It has gluten free tortilla bread options, so that was very helpful for my daughter. Sadly I onky have video footage and not photos of the food, and I am having difficulty uploading the videos. I'll conclude by saying 2 more things of my experience eating here. Firstly, that I had often seen this on social media as a must eat place in NYC, but when i watched the videos I was skeptical as it didn't look that appetising. I now understand that this was just an inaccurate portrayal not of the food, but of the people's photographs. Eg: bad lighting, poor camera angles etc. Secondly, this was so indescribably delicious that I literally face timed my husband back home in Australia and ate whilst on a video call with hi,m so he could know what he was missing out on, haha. Miguel, please bring Los Tacos and your fun personality to...
Read moreThe tacos at this Mexican restaurant were an absolute delight. The tortillas, freshly made and warm, were soft yet sturdy enough to hold the fillings without falling apart. The fillings were a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The carne asada was grilled to perfection—tender, juicy, and slightly charred, with a smoky depth that paired wonderfully with the sharpness of fresh onions and cilantro. The carnitas had that ideal slow-cooked richness, melting in your mouth with just the right amount of crispy edges for texture. The al pastor, seasoned and marinated just right, had a perfect mix of sweet, savory, and spicy notes, with a hint of pineapple that added brightness to each bite. The salsas ranged from tangy and refreshing to fiery hot, giving you the freedom to customize each taco to your liking. Topped with a squeeze of lime and a sprinkle of fresh herbs, every bite was bursting with vibrant, authentic flavors, making it clear these tacos were crafted with care and a deep respect...
Read moreFood - My wife and I each had a carnitas taco and a adobada taco on corn tortillas with all the toppings. She liked the carnitas taco the best and I liked the adobada taco (she found it to be too spicy, but that’s exactly why I liked it). Both were a bit too salty, especially the adobada taco. For value, we’ve definetly had better tacos (especially in San Diego). Probably would not come back.
Service 5/5 - very quick even having to wait in line. Friendly staff. You wait to order, they give you a ticket, and then you wait again to give your ticket to another person at the second counter who prepares and hands your food to you.
Atmosphere 4/5 - Tacos are quick to eat so there’s no trouble to find a spot to stand at one of the high top bar counters around the center of the...
