This is not a critique of the food — I’m sure it’s great. The manager/chef seemed genuinely empathetic as well.
My problem is their failure to communicate with myself and the rest of the waiting, paid customers that they would not be able to fulfill our orders.
I called around noon of Super Bowl Sunday to place an order for takeout at 6. I show up at the appointed time to find at least 20 people waiting in the same position. I’m told to come back at 630 and have my doubts, shown in short order to be well-founded. It’s now 7:15, tensions in line are high, the 1st Quarter is almost finished and I’m watching the biggest game of the year through a storefront window when they announce that they won’t be able to fulfill any more orders, canceling those like mine and the others in line. At this point the owner announces a round of drinks for anyone still waiting — you can imagine the eye rolls and looks he received.
My complaint is twofold. The first is simple mathematics, supply constraints. If you only have, say, 1000 wings to serve in a day, then you can only sell 1000 wings. To take orders once that limit is exceeded is setting yourself up to fail. There needs to be better in house accounting. Secondly, management needed to have a better system in place to organize the orders they’ve already taken in. Seeing those who placed orders at 5 receive their plates before I did — someone who placed his order when the restaurant opened — was infuriating, even more so when the order was outright canceled.
George (?) (chef/manager), if you’re reading this, again, you seemed genuinely sorry about this debacle. I respect your sincerity. Please learn from this for next year. I can, of course, never in good faith patronize your restaurant again, and those in line with me will likely never do so either, but in due time if your food is good and you treat people with respect, the customers will return and you will cater years’ worth of Super Bowl parties. I wish you...
Read moreAs soon as walked in with a friend, I was perusing beers in fridge so I knew which I wanted to order, waitress pulled it out and popped it for me before even walking back to our table, ok, nice, I guess. But then the wait to have order taken, both people doing the serving (including woman who gave me beer) walked past us several times until we finally got their attention. I think both thought the other one took order, so, whatever. Wait for food to arrive (2 burgers) was long enough for us to be questioning it. I ordered medium rare and it was raw. Maybe they put it on grill before it was defrosted? I went up to counter and asked for them to cook it some more. Wait another 11 minutes, friend now done with his burger. It comes back well done, fine, better than raw. But, it was a flavorless puck. Gobs of mayo and ketchup made it edible. The pickles tasted weird. The blue cheese tasted weird. The salad I got for a side just sat. The awful canned olives a turn off. Plus for me, I asked for no raw onions on burger but guess that would never translate into no raw onions on salad. Could not ring myself to finish the food. Water had to be asked for twice. Paper towel roll ran out and I had to go get new one. Did I mention the place stinks as they are deep frying everything to death and that happens right there for you to watch, and smell. Yikes. That vent hood seemed to be more clogged than the arteries of Bonnie’s regulars. Yeah. I rarely take time to write reviews, but seriously, they charging $18 for a burger that was simply awful and service just as bad. Do self a favor and spend money on a burger and hopefully nicer experience elsewhere. Picture of...
Read moreFirst let me say.. I used to work in a bbq restaurant for a couple years, I love bbq, and this place has the best pulled pork sandwich I’ve had in my life. It was outstanding!
I ordered from here the day GrubHub broke the internet with their FREELUNCH promo code. I think everyone who ordered lunch that day had major delays receiving their order, if they received it at all. (I do not blame the restaurants, or delivery drivers at all for this, they were doing their damndest to keep up with ridiculous demand) An hour after my order was supposed to arrive, I had given up hope. Then at 5:15pm, my knight in shining armor pulled up and dropped off my “lunch”. I appreciate that they still delivered the order knowing that by then I must have moved on. The sandwich was prepared disassembled so it was super easy to reheat the next day, and like I said, best pulled pork sando I ever had. The spicy cole slaw was so perfect with it.
Would happily order from Bonnie’s again in the future and looking forward to going in person some time! Thank you for your...
