We were looking forward to the possibilities of a new steakhouse close to Madison Square Garden. Unfortunately, this will not be a steakhouse we will ever return to. Our night started off getting ready to go out to dinner and then to see a show. The restaurant called us to tell us about the dress code, and that we need to adhere to it. We both like dressing up, so this task was kind of fun and we were looking forward to a a dress up place with good food . Upon arrival we quickly noticed that several patrons were in blue jeans and T-shirts ,and that more than half the guests were not adhering to the dress code. This was very disappointing as we started feeling overdressed. And we would’ve been more comfortable wearing jeans and a dress shirt . Secondly, we were sat not in the main dining room, but at a little side table in the bar area next to one of the staffs families that was there having dinner and very underdressed …. Our waiter paid way more attention to them then us ,to the point that we had to flag down a different waiter, just to take our food order. Unfortunately, the night just kept getting worse as our food came out .appetizer, salad. And then main course ..none of the food was really that good. We were both hoping that at least the food would be good. There was a manager on staff that went around to almost every table but ours and I believe he avoided us because he knew that a conversation with us wouldn’t be great. The restaurant was not that full. There were many open tables on a Saturday night, and they will continue to have open tables because people like me will never go back. We will tell our friends to just stick with Uncle Jacks . The atmosphere is very cool. If this place restaffed , enforced their dress code and had better food … this could be...
Read moreDecent atmosphere in the restaurant. Small seating section inside the old vault is neat, however we were sat in a back section as a 2 top with a 7pm reservation. We were left back there for probably 10 mins before the gentleman who seated us came over with a menu and asked about drinks. After telling us a server would be right over, the host ended up taking our order as well after some time had passed and no one came to the table. Eventually we received dinner bread which was delicious, and I had a glass of wine. The calimari app was pretty good, although the shrimp cocktail were odd. They were laid flat and tough, not sure if it was a different type of shrimp than usual? As for the entrees we couldn’t have been more disappointed. Given the prices $53 and $39 for the ny strip and salmon entrees we hoped for a treat, but were sadly mislead. The steak was overcooked (grey when medium was ordered) and rather fatty/marbled throughout. I don’t even think it was a strip steak to be honest. The salmon had a light crispy outer layer with a airy mushy inside like it was a cheap frozen piece of fish. We were not interested in finishing the meals and did not keep the leftovers even tho we stayed in the New Yorker hotel upstairs. The side of mac and cheese was very tasty, however the mashed potato’s were rather bland. Overall very disappointing experience as our bill was over $200 and we left hungry with questions. Was really looking forward to a fancy, expensive steak dinner in the city, guess we should’ve done some more research before settling in the hotel restaurant? 🤷🏻♂️ The host who seated us and “took care” of us for the evening was a nice guy, the product of the restaurant was the issue given the cost. ...
Read moreThis place seems ideal on the outset. Nice ambiance. $$$$ For not the $$$$ taste. Ordered the Cowboy Bone in Ribeye cooked Medium Plus. Asked the waiter if the Duck fat potato cake was good. His response "one of our best sellers. We sell out". So I went for it. Turns out the cook doesn't know what medium plus is (in between medium and medium well) as my steak was barely medium and barley edible. Once it came to the table the waiter didn't even ask me to cut it and validate that my steak was cooked to my liking. I paid attention to other tables to see if this was common among the restaurant or if it was a one off miss with me. It was common place there and NOT what high end steakhouses do. I ended up discarding a lot of bites into napkins (plural) as it was inedible. WAY too raw. Texture was similar to tartare. NOT what I was looking forward to eating. On the positive, it was seasoned very well. Their version of a potato pancake is shredded hash browns in a circle. Not a true potato pancake. I spoke with the manager, quietly as not to disrupt other guests' experience, and he asked "why didn't you send it back?" My response was "I don't send food back. I know what happens to it". What food I had left I thought I could salvage in a reheat. REHEAT $56 steak. They boxed it along with my Bearnaise sauce. When I asked if I could have a small container vs. the big container, the bus server responded "we are out" and shrugged his shoulders. No one tried to make the customer (me) happy. Definitely more hype. Not worth the money. Visit another steakhouse. I will...
