Manhattan Beauty — Local services in New York

TL;DR - Scary customer experience - followed very aggressively in the store, physically blocked into the aisles. I had to call my husband in because I felt so unsafe! Out of concern for others, I really think folks should think twice before shopping here. When business owners are looking for thieves, they “find” them - usually in regular, law abiding customers. — Walked out without buying a single thing because I was so uncomfortable- I had to call my husband because I felt so unsafe! They follow you around the store - persistently - they also block the aisle so you can’t get out. It’s very disconcerting and frightening, and incredibly inefficient.

I used to shop here six-ish years ago and returned with fond memories…I’m not sure if the beauty supply is under new management but I’ve NEVER been followed this aggressively in a store. As much as I love their collection, it’s just IMPOSSIBLE to shop that way. When my husband and I spoke with the employees, they insisted they were just doing as told, but when we spoke with management they swore it wasn’t policy. Either way, I just feel like it’s a recipe for confrontation and disaster, and out of concern for others, I really think folks should think twice before shopping here. Just left not too long ago. I bought a black skull wave cap from here before with no problem. I bought this second one last week in red color. When i got home i noticed the stitching is messed up and when you put it on it is bent and does not fit my head properly. It might be hard to see but i posted 2 photos. I tried to exchange it today and was quickly told no exchanges. I did not know this store had a no return or exchange policy. If i had have known i would never have shopped here. I usually use a card but they have minimum $5 purchase, go figure. My item was under $5 so i had to pay cash. They are very fortunate because if i had have paid with my card then I would have called my company and reversed the charge. I don't trust businesses with this kind of policy. Customer service was terrible. The Chinese chick behind the counter who seemed to be the manager was rude and dismissive. I will never return here again. Make sure you pay with a card because if you buy something damaged or you are not happy with your purchase they will not give you a refund or allow an exchange. This type of policy should not even be legal. Would give zero stars if possible. I would stay away from this place...

I live in the Bronx , but when I found this beauty supply store it just kind of works for my needs. I still buy hair products in the Bronx ,because that is easier for me to access. I shaved my hair off last year in October.

I decided that I would start wearing wigs , I went to my local beauty supply stores. But I could not find any wigs that made me happy with its quality. I don't wear wigs , but when , I spend my money on something it need to be something of great quality.

That I know I will love to wear and use. I like Manhattan Beauty a lot but I never paided any attention to their wigs . Until I needed one , I was very stocked when , I saw and felt the quality of this beauty supply store wigs. Because they located are in Manhattan.

I thought that they would have excellent quality wigs. They don't if you are someone that loves great quality wigs or someone that wears wigs to protect your natural hair. Then Manhattan Beauty is not the best store to find excellent quality wigs. Hair products yes...
