4.2/5 Stars: A Solid Dining Experience at Patiala Grill NY_
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Patiala Grill NY, and while it didn't blow me away, it was a solid experience that I'd recommend to fans of Indian cuisine.
The standout dish of the evening was undoubtedly the Soya Chap entree. Cooked to perfection, the soya chap was tender, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spice. It's clear that the chef has mastered this dish, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to try something new.
Unfortunately, the Yellow Dal Fry didn't quite live up to the same standards. While it was cooked well and had a nice consistency, the flavors were somewhat muted, and it lacked the depth and richness that I've come to expect from a good dal fry. It was by no means bad, but it was decidedly average.
One area where Patiala Grill NY truly shines is in its interiors and decor. The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere, with beautifully designed decor that perfectly captures the essence of Indian culture. From the vibrant colors to the intricate patterns, every detail has been carefully considered to create a truly immersive dining experience.
If I have one criticism, it's that the prices at Patiala Grill NY feel a bit steep compared to the service offered. While the food is certainly good, the service can be a bit slow and inattentive at times. For the prices they're charging, I expect a higher level of service.
Overall, I'd recommend Patiala Grill NY to anyone looking for a solid Indian meal in a beautiful setting. While it's not perfect, the Soya Chap entree alone is worth a visit.

Read moreA great representation of Indian food with a quality food & decor. A friendly staff to greet you and wonderful ambience would instantly make you feel good about this place.
For a fine dine restaurant, we found the portion sizes to be genrous which is a HUGE plus. Cocktails are a bit on the expensive side ($18 as of the time I’m writing this review).
Palak Chaat & Lasooi Gobi were great appetizers; the entree was good but nothing out of the box. Biryani was great! 😍
Attention to detail is what they’ve achieved with their food as well as complimentary services like wet towels, packed mouth freshners, gold plated cutlery with an Indian touch!
The photo booth is a nicely decorated Joola (swing) to kill time in case theres a wait!
It was a great experience dining in and a friendly staff makes me want to visit this place again and try different dishes!
EDIT: My 4th time here which speaks how much I love this place. However, this time it was a terrible experience. Yes they were short staffed and I totally understand how difficult it would be for them to manage the kitchen and the service. Execution while being short staffed was no short of a disappointment. They noted the order incorrectly despite repeating the correct order on the table. Curries were brought to the table first and breads did not arrive for 10 minutes until the curries got colder. And we had to wait another 10 minutes for the remaining breads to come along with a missing order of a bread!
Yes, I did report this the owner who was kind enough to apologize and acknowledged the service being delayed and messy! Its debatable how does a restaurant justify a 20% gratuity for a table of 5 despite a terrible terrible service. Spent over $250 only to rethink visiting here again.
I’ve recommended this place to many of my friends & colleagues. Today wasn’t their day; I’m disappointed in the sheer lack of service with no compensation adjustment on gratuity where...

An Exceptional Indian Dining Experience at Patiala Grill (35th Street)
If you’re craving authentic Indian cuisine that rivals (and even surpasses!) what you’ll find in India, look no further than Patiala Grill on 35th Street. This restaurant is a true gem in the heart of Manhattan. From the moment we walked in, the experience was outstanding—warm ambiance, a diverse and thoughtfully curated menu, and service that truly sets the standard.
The menu is impressively broad, covering not just classic North Indian and South Indian fare, but also flavorful Indo-Chinese dishes. Whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, or follow Jain dietary preferences, you’ll find plenty of delicious, clearly marked options to choose from.
The food? Absolutely phenomenal. The dal makhani was rich and soul-satisfying, and the laccha parathas—well, I say this with great reverence—they might have been better than the ones I had on my recent trip to Delhi. Perfectly flaky, soft, and bursting with flavor.
And the service deserves a special shoutout. Aniket, our server, was beyond exceptional—polite, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. He took the time to understand our preferences and recommended dishes that we absolutely loved. Attentive without being intrusive, he made the entire experience seamless. If you visit (and you should), ask for Aniket. He’s a true professional and a delight.
A quick note for first-timers: there are two Patiala Grills in the area. The 35th Street location is the larger, more upscale venue that serves alcohol and requires reservations. The 34th Street location is smaller, more casual, and doesn’t serve alcohol or require a reservation.
All in all, a top-tier Indian dining experience in NYC. We’ll be back soon—and...
