There are many sushi restaurants in the vicinity of Chikurin. Chikurin has a way of standing out. I came here a 2nd time in a month which is alot, to dine with friends to celebrate before Christmas. Since no indoor dining is allowed, we sat inside an outdoor tent they constructed with heaters to dine. It dies prevent the wind from coming in. It is still a little chilly but not unbearable. I suggest you order some hit tea and hot sake to keep warm because it works!! As far as food and service you can expect to be pleasantly pleased at both. The prices are good as well. We ordered calamari, oyster shooter( which are so good here, especially with a little jalapeño), the seafood soup (Perfect in the cold weather) which is cute delicious, the coconut shrimps are huge, we also got the edimame, which is a little different than other places because of a seasoned delicious sauce added to it. The gyoza were really good,, we ordered 3 of them.. Finally, they had uni (sea urchin) in a sushi roll that was well presented. I cannot imagine how many sake bombs we had while there. The staff delivered the items fast and whenever we needed waters or other items. They really want you to have a great experience dining. Yes, it is one of the places I think about when it comes to a sushi/...

The worst sushi place in N Y. I ordered 1 roll of eel avocado sushi paid $17. The taste was Ok to me. While I was eating I bite on something hard, like peace of glass. When examined closely, it was, black color round shape object. I showed it to waitress on white color small sauce plate. The waitress said that rice could have foreign objects. NO apology!!! She brought me bill to pay after my discovery. I did not want to make scandal, paid my bill and left. I woke at 3AM in the morning with discomfort in my stomach and I am writing this review. I do not know what causing my pain, sushi itself or maybe there was more of foreign subjects in my food I swallowed. I am disgusted, worried what would happen to me afterwards. This is my warnings to you, present and future customers of this place. I was looking through other reviews and saw one woman had piece of plastic on her plate. Interior at inside of this place is too dark, the plates are black color, so you do not see what...

If it were possible to give this restaurant 0 stars, I would have. In fact, I believe that this restaurant should be shuttered, closed down.

On Sunday 2/25/24, my sister and I seated ourselves in the empty restaurant at approximately 12:30 PM. The men and the woman behind the sushi counter completely ignored us. My sister called out to get their attention, they ignored her and chose to speak louder to drown out her request for service.

It took 15 minutes for a waitress to stop putting glasses behind the empty bar and approach our table. We ordered. Not long thereafter she brought us cold miso soup, cold green tea, cold broccoli and grizzly, undercooked chicken.

In other words, there was no service and the food did not meet the the most basic standards. We were appalled.

Please boycott this establishment. They do not deserve your...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chikurin on Avenue Z. It was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The menu offered a wide variety of options, ensuring that there was something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the [specific dish], which was perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The service was equally impressive. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations. Overall, Chikurin exceeded my expectations in every way. If you’re looking for a place with great food and top-notch service, this is it. I can’t wait to return and try more of what they have to offer!

We walked in at 10 PM and were greeted by a nice lady. She informed us that although the kitchen closes at 10:30, she would be able to serve us, no questions asked. That was really nice. The food was pretty tasty. I was pleasantly surprised they had fresh wasabi and it paired nicely with the sushi I got. Mushroom soup was truly amazing. Wok charred edamame was a big no no. Go to Nagoya Sushi for legit wok charred edamame. The hibachi was subpar at best. You can tell from the pics that the steak just isn’t great. Also the fried rice was overcooked and burnt. But the ice cream was tasty and it ended our meal off on a good note, despite the fact that it literally came while we were still eating our entrées... P.S. Beware of the cold water in the bathroom!
