Clockwork Bar — Restaurant in New York

Clockwork Bar is a dive bar. It's the perfect place to pregame, or if you're just looking for a few drinks. Where else can you find pickle-backs or a shot + beer (house liquor + Budweiser) for $5? And this isn' just during happy hour - it's ALL DAY. Clockwork is not for the type of nights where you want to sit and catch up with your friends and have a chill night. It is for the type of nights where you have had a long ass week, everyone is getting on your last damn nerve, and you want to have many, many drinks, without breaking the bank.

Will definitely be back the next time I have one of those...

NY’s best dive bar! I came here alone because I’m a loser and my wife didn’t invite me out to dinner with her friends (not after last time). I was hoping to be surrounded by more lost souls…

Instead I probably looked like Travis Bickle at the bar. Hunched over. Smirking to myself in the mirror. Judging the groups of virile young friends having a great night out. Completely out of touch with reality while simultaneously craving some kind of social connection…

But damn that beer and well shot combo for $6...

Stepping inside the narrow, graffiti-ed walls of Clockwork is like stepping into a favorite hole in the wall circa 1981: intense, wired men with their heavily made up girlfriends in fishnets rock out to a mix of The Heartbreakers, James Chance and The Contortions and the occasional Rolling Stones and Kiss songs (true, the same bar might not have played the latter two in '82, but time has passed).
