I went to this restaurant on Saturday 4/22/2024 afternoon about 4pm... the staff was the greatest! The food was delicious! The vegetables were cooked to perfection! The Calamari was seasoned very well! Needless to say our entire meal was delicious! The drinks were also very good! We requested the chef to come our to compliment him on the food over all it was a wonderful experience!.... Fast forward to Wednesday 04/24/24 Evening.... The staff was less friendly.... The Calamari was tooooo salty had to send it back! My friend did not like her Mac and cheese dish and the chef came out which was a different chef who was not very nice... she returned the meal but they charged her for it!! I have never in my life been to a restaurant where I did not like something, it was returned and still got charged!!! Bad business!!! I took food home to my daughter she stated the oxtails were good but the vegetables were spicy! Who makes steamed spicy? She had the same vegetables Saturday afternoon and they were perfect! I like to promote black owed businesses but be consistent! Maybe the staff and the chef from Saturday afternoon should train the staff who works during the week in the evening so they can keep business! Read moreI went there for the 1st time to have brunch with a good friend yesterday. They had a Dj. He was playing good music. The Chicken and Waffles were really good. The Rum Punch pitcher($45) was warm. I don't really understand why it was warm. We had to ask for a cup of ice. More servers are needed. It was a long wait to get the server's attention because they were stretched thin. The servers are really nice and knowledgeable on the menu. Tip in cash so it can go directly to the server. It was hot in the restaurant as well. Please close all doors and turn on the air conditioner. I had to use my portable fan. Please bring ice cold water when every customer sits at a table. There was a "service charge" on the bill, and that is unacceptable. This is not Uber Eats. Hookah is $45 Cash Only and can only be smoked outside in the back of the restaurant. The hookah was really nice and lasted for over an hour plus, get "Love Sixty" minty & fruity!! The back of the restaurant has no fan, no speaker, no bamboo smoke, or "off spray" to keep the mosquitoes away. I have a lot of mosquitoe bites on my legs. Smoke your hookah at home! They serve water for free but will also bring you a big blue glass bottle of "Still" water and charge you $10.00 w/ a service charge. 1 big bathroom stall towards the back restaurant. The music was being handled by the cook, it was kinda a mess, the music completely cut off at one point and he had to come out the kitchen to start a new playlist. They had it blaring where you had to holler to talk, until we said something, like it was only 3 parties in there.
The owner turned the lights down so low myself and my friend laughed and looked at each other like it’s only 6pm, we’re almost in the dark, it’s not that vibe yet. Lol
Food: my girl ordered the shrimp/crab stuffed lobster tail with veggies. She said the stuffing was okay but the actual lobster had no butter or seasoning on it.
I ordered the shrimp and grits, with a side of turkey bacon and eggs. The grits were really seasoned and the shrimp was good. They use the good turkey bacon and I had enough eggs and bacon left over for the next morning. I believe each side was $7/per.
I think the concept is good as usual, (because black people are really innovative) however, the execution is poor, including the condition of the interior of the establishment.
We have to be more invested in quality of the business so it’s sustainable and scalable instead of just being able to say we’re an entrepreneur. Get a mentor and get the details of this place in shape and it can be a big hit and you could expand to...
