I am Sorry to have to say this- Avoid this establishment!!! We arrived with a party of 6 at 5:00 PM. The host seemed annoyed to seat us, because we did not have a reservation and it was 12/28, immediately following the holidays. The waiter was very abrupt. He asked for our drink order before we even had an opportunity to look at the wine menu. He then proceeded to tell us that we had to order our appetizers at the same time as our entree, because the kitchen wants it that way. The portions were small, but they did taste good, I will give that credit to the kitchen. When the check came, the server attempted to charge $16 for a cannoli. When we questioned it, he said that the bar added the check incorrectly, and that the cannoli should have been $10. I actually watched him prepare the check toward the back, in my direct line of site. (Photo attached) My husband asked for a side of pasta, which came on an appetizer plate, and he was charged $12.50. I asked for spice to be added to my chicken scarpiello and the waiter changed the price from $19.75 to the “chicken special” for $26 to add spicy sausage, when I had just requested crushed red pepper. At the end of the meal, a $40 (18% gratuity) was charged. This restaurant is looking to prey on tourists and they are absolutely not to be trusted. We spend at least one long weekend in the city each month and I NEVER experienced this before. DO NOT dine here, but if you must, check your bill VERY carefully.

I’ve been living a block from Da Tommaso for over a decade and have never tried them. This past Sunday was the night I broke that streak!! My boyfriend and I agreed it was time to try this local gem. Although the dining room was on the smaller side it really packed a nice welcoming ambiance. They really did make do the best they can with the arrangement of the tables to accommodate both small and large parties. We were both so famished we decided to straight to the main course. I had the penne vodka and for additional charge I had them add chicken. I haven’t had a better pasta dish in a very, very long time!! This dish was absolutely sublime!!! A must get!! My boyfriend had the chicken and mash with green beans. He definitely enjoyed it and thought it so delicious! All through out dinner this wonderful lady who tended to us was so good with timing her attention to us and asking how everything was going. I never got her name but I would ask to be seated with her again and again! For dessert we took home an order of tiramisu. Let me tell you.. it was just amazing! For our first time dining at Da Tommaso, it was well worth the wait!!! I’ll tell you this much I won’t be waiting ten years let alone ten months to go again!!! If you’re visiting NYC or a local, this restaurant is a must try and a can’t miss!!!!!

Da Tommaso is the most under-rated italian restaurant in the theater district. The food is exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant that has survived in Manhattan for decades. Their Tortellini Gratinata is something very special, and their other dishes are consistently excellent. We love to mix and match dishes since there are no weak items in the menu. The service is wonderful as well. My wife and I have started ordering meals to go after having a baby, and when we're running late, they somehow keep everything hot like it was just prepared. The staff are very friendly and always ask about the family when one of us drops by. I'm writing this review on Mother's Day, and Da Tommaso was the right choice to make dinner at home special. Wishing the staff all the best!

Unfortunately I can't leave a review based on their food, because we never got to eat. I called at 6:00 pm to make a reservation for 10:30. Online it says they are open till 12:00 am. The person I spoke with said that works great and I told them we were going to a show first but we should be done by then. They said ok. Our show ends and I check the time - it's 10:34. As soon as it's not too loud I call the restaurant (10:36). I tell them I'm so sorry but we're 5 minutes away, can we still come. The woman who answers tells me the kitchen is closed. I said how is that possible I had a reservation at 10:30. She said it closes at 10:30. I said well we're minutes away and I had a reservation. She says ok fine I'll hold open the kitchen. We run to the restaurant freezing in temps that are in the teens. We get there, it's 10:43, and it's dark and empty. A gentleman opens the door and says they are closed. I said why did you take my reservation if you close at 10:30?? He says if we had been there at 10:30, (13 minutes earlier) then they would have cooked for us. But now it was too late. I said his hours are posted online from noon until midnight and he says that's incorrect. I understand that we were late for our reservation, but they should never take a reservation for the time they apparently close. And even if they were still willing to take the reservation, they should have told us they would be closing and we absolutely couldn't be late. When I spoke to the original gentleman who took my reservation he did not communicate that whatsoever and said 10:30 was no problem. Needless to say we were extremely frustrated to be turned away back into the frigid weather with...

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Was very very disappointing. Waited 15 minutes after our reservation to get seated. And then our waiter couldn't remember the drinks we ordered. It was busy, understandable. But the food than took 45 minutes to an hour to get to the table. It was very good but way to long of a wait. We than get our bill which was hand written, not understandable what so ever. Didn't know if tip was included either. after this the waiter comes back and says we calculated it wrong because there was more on the back and it was unknown. Not even that but he comes back again after giving our cards and signing to leave, he says THEY left out three drinks on our bill that they don't know what to do about. Instead of being courteous and saying it's okay or I'm sorry. We get told it was our fault. He said he didn't know what to do, we wanted to speak to the owner, he never brought the owner over. We got up to talk to him and still nothing. No sorry, or care in the world. they said it was our fault. And there was nothing they could do about it. THEY left out things on the bill, but it was our fault ?! Doesn't seem right. My family and I will never step foot into that restaurant again. It was the worst service we have ever had. Nothing but rude staff and the owner had to care or respect. The only comment they could say is that it was busy... NYC is busy every night every day. That's no excuse, especially since it's not the first year...
