The bar tender snuck up behind me and quickly stole my beer from the table after claiming he saw me break the bar rules. He kept referring to those rules as ‘my rules’ - a typical first sign of an employee itching to yield and abuse their authority. His justification was that he saw me associating with somebody else drinking alcohol without valid ID. That person didn’t ever touch my drink, nor did I buy the drink for them. They immediately conceded and left the bar. I protested that I had nothing to do with that infraction and asked for my $7 beer back. The bar tender and his significantly older colleague refused, and demanded that I too leave the bar. I very clearly said that I would happily leave the bar if I was given a refund for my beer. The bar tender responded that ‘it’s literally $7, get over it.’ I naturally responded that if it’s just $7, it should be trivial to give me my money back. To me that is a significant amount of money. Eventually the old man lost his cool and, without issuing me a refund, began aggressively forcing me out of the bar. He was old and weak so I offered only very mild resistance as he pushed me to the door and out of the establishment. At that point I left and accepted that I wasn’t getting my $7 back in that moment. In short, this place is horribly managed and the bar tender is malicious. I will never return, unless it’s to recover my $7, and I suggest that everybody else stays far away from this...
Read moreLast week, we were celebrating my friend’s graduation in the area and decided to end the night at that bar, taking a few shots. When we left, my friend’s mom realized she didn’t have her phone. We looked for it at the bar we’d gone to earlier and at this one. The manager—or someone working there—asked if we had a way to track the phone, and we said no. When we asked them to let us know if they found it, they gave us a card and told us to call, but also said we should probably go back to the other bars because they didn’t think the phone was there.
We went back to the apartment and luckily were able to activate the phone’s GPS. It showed that the phone was at Dive 106. The graduate’s mom had to go there with someone else to check if the phone was really there. It wasn’t until they showed the staff a screenshot of the phone’s location that the person in charge seemed embarrassed and started looking for it. I had triggered the phone alarm remotely from the computer as soon as we tracked it—and guess what? IT WAS IN THE KITCHEN.
We could’ve reported the theft, but we didn’t because it was my friend’s graduation and we were trying not to let it ruin the night. We used to really like this bar—we always ended our nights out there—but now we’re incredibly...
Read moreThis place saved the day after our unpleasant experience literally across the street, and on my birthday celebration with friends.
I normally would have looked up reviews of a place first before deciding but we really needed to just go somewhere else. Imagine our surprise when we were welcomed right away and attended to immediately, despite the place being busy. Thank you, Max! :) Upon settling in, we all agreed that we like the place, so out of curiosity, I looked up their reviews, and wow, 5-stars all the way! Living up to people's reviews it seems!
Overall, we really loved the vibe of the place and the staff, it just makes you want to stay and enjoy the rest of the night. Fast forward to almost 4 hours later, you can imagine how many more round of drinks we've had, plus we enjoyed their nachos with grilled chicken and yummy fries!
The music was great and as the rest of the evening went on, the place became even more packed! Service and staff didn't slow down and we were attended to from start to finish. You just earned 5 new/more customers and regulars, Dive106! We're definitely...
