I cannot stress enough how much I love this bar. From the moment you walk in, Doppelgänger feels special—warm lighting, thoughtful design, and an unfussy atmosphere that makes you want to linger.
You can tell a lot of care went into the menu. It’s inventive without trying too hard, and every sip feels considered. The cocktails are spot-on, offering both house creations and classics with refreshing twists. The wine list (often overlooked at non-wine bars) is thoughtful and impressive. And the beer list…simply chef’s kiss and entirely unsurprising considering both owners have extensive backgrounds in the beer industry. Best of all, the entire menu is extremely affordable—think pre-Covid pricing, which feels almost unheard of these days.
The outdoor area is another standout—spacious, inviting, and meticulously kept. It’s rare to find a spot where the outside feels just as intentional as the inside. And if you time it right, you might catch one of their delicious local food pop-ups!
And the service? Impeccable. The staff is attentive in the best way possible, routinely bussing tables, wiping down the bar, and making sure you feel welcome without hovering.
To the very sweet owners of this establishment, Will Huebner and Billybob Archer, you’ve got a true neighborhood gem on your hands! Brooklyn is so very lucky...
Read moreI live in the neighborhood and was sad to see Cardiff giant leave but decided to try this place out with my friend a couple weeks ago. We got a beer and a shot each and I turned my back for a second and my shot glass was gone. I told the bartender and as he, seemingly annoyed, went to pour me another shot, he said in a low voice “should have been watching your drink”. I asked him if I heard him correctly and he started apologizing and said he didn’t mean it like that but I said forget it. I paid for the drinks and we left without finishing our drinks. I understand it’s my responsibility to watch my drink, sorry I turned my back for a second but the comment was weird and rude and made me uncomfortable. Will not be going back, I miss the friendly...
Read moreI've been coming to this address since 2010 when it was called 'Rope', and then Splitty, and then Cardiff Giant; and I have fond memories of each iteration. Coincidentally, I met the love of my life in this building, so I'm am so happy to say the most current ownership is very hospitality focused and offers a little bit of something for everyone. We are looking forward to visiting for...
