Wow. Wow wow wow. Without a doubt - the BEST pizza I've had in New York City - maybe even the best pizza I've had EVER. I'm no food critic, I'm just an average New Yorker who loves pizza just like everyone else, but I'd say I've been around the block, food experience wise.
I've been to Italy many times, grown up with friends who've been making homemade pizza their whole lives, been to COUNTLESS restaurants and diners to grab a classic pepperoni... and let me tell you, this is it.
One of my gripes with most New York pizza is the dough - let's be real, it usually sucks. It's chewy, tastes cheap, and overpowers the cheese and the sauce. Not here. ABSOLUTELY not. The dough at Driggs is immaculate. Golden, flaky, crispy, fantastic. I'd go so far as to say it's the BEST part of the pizza here - and that's not because the cheese or sauce is underwhelming. It's just. That. Good.
Oh, and speaking of the cheese and sauce - amazing. Just amazing. Like I said at the start, I've been to Italy. Home of the pizza. I know what real pizza cheese and sauce is supposed to look like, taste like, smell like... and Driggs' nails it. Absolutely nails it. It's just as good, if not better. The cheese is gooey and creamy, the sauce is flavorful and savory... it's everything you could ever want.
And the best part? I don't have to go to Italy to get real high-quality pizza any more. I've got everything I'd want here at Driggs.
10/10! I'd give it 6...
Read moreIf I could, I would give this shop zero stars. I have always came there to get pizza before I go to work or stop by for a small snack and their pizza is fairly good but today I came in and was immediately approached by a Spanish lady with a scar underneath her nose who claims to be the manager. She rudely asked me if I plan on buying something and that the seating area is only for paying customers. I was sitting and waiting for my friend to come so we can have pizza together not even 10 minutes later she approached me again and asked me to leave with no explanation. I was very offended because the tables were dirty and nasty. Staff members cannot wipe it down, the floors had dirty tissue on it and for customers to be sitting in there to eat anyways is disgusting. They shouldn’t be getting a A for cleanliness during inspections. To a certain extent, I felt I was being racially, profiled or harassed no other customers were approached besides me. I will not be coming here anymore I do recommend the red pizza shop on Bedford Avenue near the Dunkin’ Donuts their...
Read moreNice atmosphere, it was clean and quiet when I was there. I asked for a recommendation between two different pizzas. The employee said “supreme” Square vs The Mediterranean. I asked for it to be warm but not too hot. When I sat down to eat it, it had cold spots and it was very salty. When he asked me, how was it? Before I could say a word, he said too, salty right? I was thinking to myself. Why would you recommend something that’s too salty? Secondly, I didn’t think I could have my pizza warmed back up because I bit into it. I didn’t think it was sanitary and didn’t want to cause a fuss. Between the missed recommendation and the lack of warming it up properly , It was disappointing. Probably a great place to go to have a slice, but I didn’t have a...
