This is the second time I’ve been here . This restaurant has a ridiculous policy that makes no sense whatsoever. This has happened twice . I asked for a cappuccino and the waitress told me they can’t bring me a cappuccino to the 3rd floor outdoor seating. What? I asked why and she just said it’s their restaurant policy . I responded : that is not an answer. She then said the reason was the cappuccino foam dissipates from when it was made to when it would arrive at the table . I said that’s not true and I still would like the cappuccino. Then a manager came over and stated that I cannot have my cappuccino because it’s restaurant policy that they cannot serve me a cappuccino on the outdoor deck . I asked why this policy exists and she flatly refused to answer . There’s absolutely no valid reason for this . I’m the customer and that’s simple not acceptable under any circumstances. I asked for a standard item and they refused to serve me. I’m a New Yorker and I love a good French Bistro but unfortunately Williamsburg can’t seem to get the vibe and ambience of a French Bistro correct Their steak frites , the NY Strip was unevenly cooked tasted funny for a NY Strip. . 3 “French Inspired “ bistros have closed out here in the 10 years I’ve been living here . Strange . They thrive in Manhattan and are mostly all consistent in the city . Even though the rest says it’s a “French Inspired “ restaurant. Theres a formula in NYC for a consistent French bistro, meaning the way the food is prepared and what’s on a menus. There’s a consistency one can enjoy in NYC which is that French Bistros, no matter the owner are consistent and similar in they prep of the foods and their menu selection. This place doesn’t understand the food prep and the service is bad . This happened when I sat on the ground floor the last time . They couldn’t get me a cappuccino because they excuse was they don’t serve it at night . If I cannot get a standard item like a cappuccino for any reason then there’s a problem. What u ordered is generally what accompanies a meal after one is done with a main course . These people are simply lying for some unknown reason, I recall, had some weird inconsistency to what I ordered the first time . I gave this place two chances and it has failed in service and food prep, twice . I’m not hard to please but I certainly don’t like being refused a standard item especially after a mediocre food experience This place will close soon enough . I’m not the only person with this attitude towards this restaurant, I have come to understand when sharing my experience with other restaurant goers...
Read moreI want to love this place but I simply can't. It all started with us calling yesterday to confirm that happy hour was still happening on a holiday and we were told that it was. However, here we are today being told that it's not happening. They were kind enough to accommodate us anyway since they admitted it was their mistake. However the wait time for any kind of service was a little absurd. I worked in the restaurant industry and believe me I know the hustle but from menus dropped to the actual taking of the order was about 30 minutes. We are not complainers so we just waited patiently. Then when the food arrived it was good but when we asked for our leftovers to be packed the waitress admitted that she THREW IT AWAY instead of packing it. She told us we didn't mention it but we did. In fact two of us at the table requested to take our leftovers home. She didn't offer to fix the problem or anything, her words were "I threw it in the garbage". As a hospitality worker myself for ten years I really try to be understanding of all restaurant workers but there was no reason for the poor service. It wasn't busy at all and we were very nice and understanding as customers. The food was good but the poor service really makes me never want to return. Most guests don't complain, they just don't return. And sadly that will be us. Very disappointing.
I just wanted to note - I am not one to pull the race card but we saw everyone else around us who was not of color being treated excellent and not us. A pair of young white girls across from us were treated better and even received an extra dish that they didn't order and were allowed to keep. We saw a couple of color on the other side get up and leave because nobody went up to their table. Again, I don't want to accept that because we were of color we were treated poorly but you can't help and notice what's going...
Read moreSo I arrived 30 minutes early for a birthday dinner for one my closest friends... In total I needed a table for 5, unfortunately due to the size of the party & covid-19 restrictions they had limited seating options. I was seated outside & ordered a Frozen Spritz to keep me company till they arrived. It was both deliciously refreshing & environmentally conscious, as it was served with a paper straw. Several sips in I already felt the alcohol so kudos to the bartender for a tasty & strong drink. Now the staff were great! Very friendly & accommodating, even though the remainder of my party didn't arrive till 40 minutes later, at no point was I made to feel uncomfortable or rushed, I had 2 drinks in total during the wait. As for the food, it was perfect in every way, temperature, taste, & presentation... For the appetizers we ordered the Escargot Maison, Gratinéed French Onion Soup, & Calamari(off menu). Our main courses were the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, Chicken Paillard, Pan Roasted Branzino, & Red Wine Braised Beef Short Rib. Personally I ordered the Escargot which was cooked exquisitely, it had a lovely delicate consistency that when paired with the toasted bread reminded me of the first time I tried it while visiting Paris... & The Pan Seared Branzino, which had the perfect crisp was sitting in this savory Thai red chilli coconut broth that I just couldn't get enough of... As it was my friends birthday they brought us a creme brulee at the end with a candle in it & we sang happy birthday. The vibe of this place is awesome, the crowd was pretty diverse & the ages seemed to be late 20s & up. I'd recommend for a date or just a dinner with friends. It isn't cheap though so definitely come prepared to spend $$$ but...
