The Egg Shop in Williamsburg is a gem that takes the art of breakfast to an entirely new level, and our Christmas Eve visit proved to be nothing short of magical. From the moment we walked in, the cozy, festive atmosphere wrapped us in warmth, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon was enough to make anyone’s holiday brighter.
What truly made our experience unforgettable, though, was the incredible service provided by Otis. Even on Christmas Eve, a day when most people are eager to get home to their families, Otis embodied the holiday spirit with his infectious energy and genuine warmth. He welcomed us like old friends, making us feel special from the very start.
Otis’s menu knowledge was impeccable. When we mentioned we wanted something hearty but unique, he confidently recommended the Turkish eggs for my partner and the BEC for me. Both dishes were absolute perfection. The toast had the creamiest avocado spread topped with a perfectly poached egg, while the Spandex Bowl balanced wholesome greens with a rich, runny yolk that felt indulgent without being heavy.
What truly stood out, though, was Otis’s ability to make us feel cared for on such a special day. He checked in with perfect timing, ensuring our coffee stayed warm and that every detail of our meal was flawless. When he overheard us mentioning it was our first Christmas Eve away from home, he surprised us with a small, complimentary order of their legendary biscuit bites, wishing us a happy holiday with sincerity that brought a smile to our faces.
The Egg Shop’s food is outstanding, but it’s the people like Otis who make it extraordinary. His kindness, attentiveness, and holiday cheer turned what could have been a simple breakfast into a Christmas memory we’ll cherish forever.
If you’re in Williamsburg, The Egg Shop is a must-visit, and if you’re lucky enough to have Otis as your server, you’re in for a truly special experience. This place, and its incredible team, embodies the magic...
Read moreI saw egg shop on social media. It looked good and very aesthetic (you know...) so I wanted to check it out. We went on a Saturday morning around 9:30am as a party of 2. There were probably only a few other groups of people there, the store was primarily empty at that time.
Food = 3/5 Their menu is simple - everything features egg! I couldn't decide on which thing to get so I asked the server for their opinion and what is the most popular. I ended up getting their EGG SHOP B.E.C. = bacon egg cheddar since the server said it was their signature. The panini roll was soft and well toasted. Their flavors were good and their picked jalepenos in it was not quite spicy so I added in some hot sauce. The dish was rather small in my opinion and $10 was a little overpriced for it.
Atmosphere was 4/5. Their interior is bright and open and I love how they incorporated egg themed things in their decor!
Service was 2/5: The restaurant was fairly empty when we went. But after ordering, our food didn't come for at least 30 minutes. We were getting really hungry and confused because eggs don't take THAT long to cook. When we flagged down the server (we had trouble even getting their attention since they were just talking to amongst themselves), she apologized and said the kitchen lost our order so they are working on it. It didn't seem very likely and believable to us since when we ordered, there weren't very many people in the restaurant so the kitchen could not have been busy. She didn't seem sincere with her apology either.
Overall, this place is good for the gram and if you like egg food, its good! Hopefully you'll run into better...
Read moreAfter visiting the egg spot on Elizabeth Street years ago and having a great experience I was so excited about coming back and getting some delicious ricotta pancakes. Unfortunately, the one on Elizabeth no longer serves ricotta pancakes but this location does.
To my disappointment, the pancakes were not the same and I just didn't have as good of an experience as the first time. My husband and I both got the ricotta pancakes and they were lackluster in every way compared to our first experience. Very lemon forward and had no Brown butter taste compared to having a good balance of brown butter flavor and lemon. We also got the soft scrambled eggs which were good but we were charged $2 for one set and $8 for another with no explanation as to why. Additionally, we ordered a biscuit with honey butter and jam, some chicken strips, Orange juice, and lavender lemonade. The biscuit and chicken were very good but the lavender lemonade was way too tart and the orange juice was ok.
The customer service was also very lackluster compared to our first experience. We didn't feel welcomed at all!! Our server Jiro never once asked us how our food was and had a very somber attitude the whole time but had the audacity to ask us for a tip as we were getting up to leave. Tipping is complimentary and it is very tacky to ask for when you provide 0 customer service and simply just take the order and bring the food out.
I suggest this location have a training session with the other location so they can improve their customer service and make sure their food is consistent in...
