Fabio's Pizzeria & Restaurant — Restaurant in New York

My first attempt at dining out there: "Not sure why they try and be a restaurant."

That wasn't exactly fair. They were trying to do outside dining and hadn't worked it out. I am pretty sure our "waiter" had never done it before. They were trying. I have since been there about 10 times. I have seen many people sitting down and eating. They seem happy. None of them were drinking wine. When we had ordered wine, the server seemed to not even know that existed there. He came back and said "Red or White". The red was hopefully a lambrusco as it was cold, sweet, and bubbly.

So, that wasn't a regular experience and I am going to write it off. Why?

Because this place is a "New York Real Deal". Yup. If you want to come to New York and see what a real New Yorker's pizza place is like, this is it. It ain't corporate. It is family. It has characters working there. It has a back room that you kind of don't see unless you are local. They take care of their people. They are nice to regular customers.

There is usually a contingent of good looking "Good Fella" looking guys hanging around. They are friendly, but I wouldn't suggest anyone going in there acting wild. I am guessing that would be frowned upon.

The owner, I believe, is there often. He is very nice to customers. I look forward to one day getting to sit down and eat (post pandemic).

Now, why all of that? Because their pizza is the fricking bomb. Buffalo Chicken Pizza is something you have to try once in life. I did. It changed my life. I can only imagine (for a little while longer) how good the rest of the sit down food is.

I really wanted to give 5 stars. The only reason I didn’t was because there is always one item missing from my delivery and the female that answers the phone, crystal, has some attitude. As if she’s mad she has a job? I spend pretty good money every week at fabios, it’s my Sunday night delivery because I myself work at a restaurant all week and Sunday night when I get home I’m not looking forward to cooking, so fabios it is, great menu. Everything I tried so far has been delicious absolutely delicious, not sure if it still same owners from the old Ninas but who cares the food is awesome. Every time I call, she answers the phone as if she’s wondering why your calling and it’s just rude it kind of makes you wanna hang up and say forget it but again the food is good man so I ignore the angry witch on the phone. If your lookin for really good Italian order fabios. Someone give crystal a hug she sounds like...

October 7, 2024 - 12:15 PM EST - Guy who took my order was bothered that I didn’t say I’d be paying separate in time, that another receipt would be printed and that I should’ve told him. Just 2 orders.

First of all - you’re welcome for bringing you business? The guilt trip I could’ve brushed off but then, my order was wrong. I ordered a chicken Cesar salad and I repeated it 3 times when he told me the order back, I noticed he hesitated when I tried confirming if it was in fact a chicken Cesar salad in the bag. Charged me for the salad with chicken but of course no chicken on my dish.

This kind of service is lazy, passive aggressive and perhaps a bit of sycophancy involved because I see good reviews of this place from others. Might be how I look.. I’m just coming into the area and this will be the last time I come here,...
