Sichuan Spicy Duck Feet Sausage in New York

We’re very fond of Szechuan cuisine and make sure to try it wherever we go. Being in NYC’s Chinatown, we visited this place considering its name and location. When we went inside, the restaurant was completely empty, and we were the only ones there. We ordered Steamed Dumplings, which were cold and tasted like they were made a day ago, and Spicy pork dumplings which were a little warm but not hot. Moreover, the chili oil had no chilies and was just oil. Next, we ordered, Bokchoy, which wasn’t served fresh either and was instead microwaved because some of it was hot while other pieces were cold. We also ordered chopper pepper fish which wasn’t on the menu, but we were told they could make it. It turned out to be a fried fish with salt, and it was served over lettuce which is not the right way to serve it. Finally, we ordered our signature dish, which we love, the fish fillet in Szechuan sauce. The quantity was 1/4th of what we have always gotten, and so many Szechuan restaurants across the US. The fish had no salt, chili, or numbing taste and was rather bland. We had also ordered the Hot n Sour soup but never got it, and it was also included in the bill, which we had to ask to be removed. The restaurant is super expensive and is not worth the money we spent there.

8/5/22 update: I came again to try to the Braised beef fillet with Sichuan sauce. I placed my order and went to the bathroom to wash my hands. There was no soap so I told the front desk lady. While I was waiting outside the bathroom for her to refill it, I see one of the workers go into the bathroom, spend a couple minutes in there and then leave to go back to a table in the restaurant he was working at, where he continues to fill dumplings with meat with his bare hands. Knowing that he just used the bathroom and at best washed his hands with water but without soap, needless to say, I will never return to this disgusting place. 3/1/22 visit: Had the "Chong qing spicy dry chicken" and the "Cumin lamb." Both were excellent. The chicken was a $12.95 lunch special (available 11am to 5pm M-F). The cumin lamb wasn't on the lunch special list but the lady was nice enough to give it to me as I had to wait a bit to order. The interior is a bit dark and dingy; the place could use a renovation or at least some more lighting, but the food made up for it. Next time I want to try the "Braised beef with Sichuan chili sauce."

I wish I could give this place a positive review. The food is pretty good, prices are reasonable, portions are generous. But the service is bipolar between extremely kind or wildly rude. I ordered from here and there was a simple issue with my order, after calling the restaurant a very kind woman answered the phone and told me not to worry, that the food could be delivered to me the next day no charge if I called the restaurant again the next day. Next day comes around and I call up. Now a man picks up. I explain the situation from the night before and he responds with “sorry I don’t k ow your question” and hung up on me. I called back to try to remedy the issue and explain better, as English was not his first language and I worried I didn’t get my point across. Sadly no, that wasn’t the case. I am currently witnessing this man pick up and hang up the phone at every instance of me calling, not even trying to deal with this. Just plainly hanging up on me. If this place had a repeat customer before this, they have absolutely lost it now as I will not give money to a business that can’t even give common decency to its patrons. Do not recommend.

Edited review: after I was reached out to yelp I called the store and not only was my order fixes, but the extremely kind woman answering the phone threw in an extra order of amazing wontons. I am fully happy with how my issue was handled and will be happy to give this place my business in the future. To the manager of this restaurant, I hope you understand just how great of an employee you have there. Working in restaurants most of my life has made me expect a certain level of service from a restaurant and this woman went above and beyond that and I hope she is getting the praise...

Reviews seem all over the place for this restaurant. Maybe I tried it on a bad day. It was late afternoon weekday, no one else in the restaurant. Old dirty dishes were left from previous customers on at least 2 of the tables. I waited a long time to order because the woman working was busy doing other things at the front. Ordered fried vegetable dumplings and Szechuan cucumbers, which I’ve had many other places in Chinatown and Flushing and elsewhere. Way overpriced here, my total came to over $36. I think there were 6 tiny dumplings with barely anything in them, and a gross sweet dipping sauce, not the delicious black vinegar sauce I’ve had elsewhere. The cucumbers had no Szechuan peppers at all, no flavor at all, just slightly oily with some sesame seeds. I asked for tea and had to ask twice. I waited awhile for it to steep but even then the water was barely yellow. Looked inside it looked like there were a couple of pieces of something in there, not a whole thing of tea. I had to stand up and interrupt the woman working to pay and leave. One bathroom seemed to be out of order because of packing tape stretched across the open door? Used the other bathroom that had unflushed piss sitting in the urinal. Maybe this place is open late so it tastes good and you ignore the prices when you’re drunk? Otherwise, I really can’t understand how this place has even 3 star reviews or has stayed in business. Gross/bland food, tiny portions, unclean, bad service, and way overpriced. Always walked by and wanted to try,...

I am a member of the US Military and went with four fellow service members during Fleet Week. We were in uniform and as such the owner incorrectly assumed I was not a local. The bill came and i added a tip that was undeserved as the food and service were both sub par. The bill for the five of us was $224.00 including the tip which i put on my credit card. When my statement arrived, three days later, I was charged $4724.00. I contacted my cc company , who asked for the original receipt which I didn't have, apparently they added a $4500.00 tip. I returned to the restaurant to get a copy of the receipt, the owner was extremely uncooperative and pretended you did not know English at all. She also acted very surprised to see me, as I mentioned earlier we were in uniform and she assumed I was from out of town and would be unable to follow up. I filed a police report and just today did an interview with a local media outlet that is assisting me. The story will be on the news in the next few days. Do not under ANY circumstances patronize this place as they are brazen thieves, even willing to rip off US Service members.

I did contact the credit card company- JetBlue Mastercard. I need a copy of the receipt and the owner refused to provide me a copy. The police is involved, the local news and the court. I'll knock every door until I get my money back. $4,500 as a tip, ...
