I was walking down the Chelsea Market actually looking for another place that was marked on my to do list (for eatery) when my friends and I got hungry (after walking the high line).
We had so many options when we entered, we were absolutely overwhelmed. Everything looked to cozy and delicious but we were up for pizza. So we started liking for a place and ended up doing a line at Filaga.
Of course if first catches the eye when you see such colors and variety. Also the music made the place much more friendly than others, so the atmosphere made a great deal here. I cannot stop mentioning the cooks. A near Robert Downey Jr. like cook hitting the pizza dough to shape it, another one putting salsa with his hands (with gloves) making it even, anther cute guy putting some olive oil and mozzarella on top. I mean, come on guys, it's a thing worth watching. That's also why I insist on staying in the counter instead of marching away with a box.
To flavors and ingredients, I must say it's pretty fresh. I repeatedly went there for lunch, to have some good food and a nice view, and I can say they prepare things in the moment. At most, they warm up the pizza if it stays there a bit longer; but most of the slices don't get that chance. Either I went there on their busiest days or it's always this busy.
Can't wait to be back there.
Update: you can eat for 5$ already. But who are we kidding, you're gonna make the line again and ask for...
Read moreThis place is a joke to pizza. They use the cheap plastic cheese that is below school lunch grade. I ordered 2 pepperoni slices for me and my 11 y/o. While waiting for them to over heat the slices I noticed the cheese on all the pizzas. Yep, anyone that has seen this below grade cheese would recognize it for its shiny plastic look. I was a little nervous before getting the slice. Once my son and I found a spot to open the white box they put it in, I tried a bite to see if it was cool enough for him to try. I spit it out without a full chew. The pepperoni was a disgrace. Maybe it wasn’t pepperoni? My son after watching me spit it out tried a tiny bite and did the same thing. I’ve never returned slices of pizza, and I’ve lived in NYC for 25 years. The gentlemen that gave us the slices didn’t even flinch when I said these slices are horrible and I want my money back. It was almost like he’d heard it to many times already. PLEASE AVOID THIS PIZZA PLACE!! This is NOT a New York City slice. All the pizza there had the cheese and probably the same level of poor quality ingredients. I might take this one step further and report them to BBB. THIS IS NO JOKE. This place is the worst pizza in the entire city, and that...
