Seed + Mill in Chelsea Market is a real gem for anyone who loves Middle Eastern flavors and desserts. I tried their famous tahini ice cream served with halva at the bottom, and it was honestly one of the most unique and delicious desserts I’ve had in a long time. The creaminess of the ice cream combined with the nutty tahini flavor and the sweet, crumbly halva created the perfect balance of textures and tastes. On top of that, I sampled several of their halvas in different flavors, and each one was absolutely outstanding. If you’re a halva fan, this place is truly heaven. For me, it was a 10 out of 10 on taste and quality.

The shop itself is tucked inside Chelsea Market, so like many spots there, seating can be a bit of a challenge. That’s not unusual for the market, but it’s worth knowing you might be standing or wandering around with your dessert. My only real criticism is the cup they use for the ice cream. With all the generous toppings, pistachios, and drizzles, the portion is a bit too big for the container. Within a minute of being served, it started dripping and getting messy – even before I had a chance to sit down.

Best place in Chelsea Market!!!!

We happened upon this place while wandering around Chelsea Market a few years ago in the summer, and their tahini soft-serve sundae caught our eye--we'd never heard of anything like it before, but love sesame ice cream and thought it was worth a shot. SO WORTH IT---halva bits at the bottom and sprinkled on the top add a nice crunch to the perfectly creamy and not-too-sweet soft-serve, there’s a touch of saltiness (perhaps from the halva, or in the soft-serve itself?) that really rounds out the flavor profile, and the tahini drizzle on top brings it all together! The portion size is perfect too (we actually share one among two of us), enough to feel satisfied without getting tired of the flavor.

Now almost every time we go into New York (even in the winter), we head to Chelsea Market specifically to grab a tahini soft-serve sundae from Seed + Mill. There’s almost always a line, but it moves fairly quickly, and service is super friendly. They’ve also got an absolutely beautiful halva display in a variety of flavors, which you can buy pre-wrapped by the ¼-lb slice (in wax/parchment paper, or pre-packaged by the ½-lb (in a sealed plastic box with a...

Amongst all of the delicious looking food at the Chelsea market this beautiful kiosk caught my eye and stopped me in my tracks. My mission to find the one best thing I was going to treat myself to had presented itself.

I ordered the tahini sundae from the delightful gentleman. He artfully assembled the sundae as if mine was the only one he had made that day even though he had made ten before me and I couldn't see the end of the line after me.

It. Was. Out. If. This. world.

As he drizzled the tahini on top he asked if I'd like the chocolate tahini as well. Um, yes please. Would I like the spicy honey also. Absolutely. What about the sea salt he asked. Yup! I wanted all of it.

I told myself I was only going to have half of it. Who was I kidding? As soon as I took my first bite I was committed to eating every last delicious morsel.

I savoured it, wishing it was never going to end. It was one of the best things I've savoured in my life.
