The goods: Where do I start…went into the restaurant and was greeted by smiling faces. We sat down and was directed to scan the QR code on the wall for the full AYCE seafood menu. I left the food selection to my two accompanying friends. Afterwards, I got up to get some quick dessert and a drink from the fridge. Their selection of drinks is quite good - I enjoyed the sparkling lychee and sparkling orange. Their selection of dessert in the fridge was very good also - four sections of mochi: matcha, durian, strawberry and mango. If your stomach is up to it, they also have whole pieces of durian. I hesistantly tried some on my visit and surprisingly I have to say it is quite good - but yeah, the scent is off-putting. Also tried the crispy pork appetizer, flavor is very nice - perfect amount of spice and crisp. The seafood, meats, and vegetables were very fresh - see for yourself in the pictures. Some of the seafoods were still jumpy and very active, so be careful when picking them up. The staff was extremely vigiliant when it came to taking away empty and trash filled plate. They frequently stopped by to ask if we wanted to add more food and to replenish the water in our soup. After the main course, for my second round of dessert, I tried the mango pudding and brown sugar ice powder, both were good, not overly sweet so I feel better about myself 🙂.
The not so goods: Some of the durians might be a little older so make sure to pick the fresher ones or else you might be in for a surprise. The fresher ones are brighter in color and doesn’t sit on a pool of durian juice. A strip of the pork tasted a bit sus. There were a few occasions where we ordered something and it never came to the table so we had to remind them. Also a few occasions where they brought the wrong item to the table but we ate it anyway. Can’t really fault them because it was dinner time and it was very busy. But, one of the waitress was getting annoyed by our reminders and reminded us to wait 🙂.
Conclusion: If you’ve made it this far, 👏 and thanks for reading. Great experience overall. Tried a lot of new things and had quite a bit of fun in the process. Total came out to be a little over $75 per person after...
Read moreIt's not every day that I come across a restaurant that truly revolutionizes the all-you-can-eat (AYCE) seafood scene. Smack Dab in the heart of Brooklyn Chinatown, this place is perfect for seafood aficionados, especially those who might want some sashimi. The restaurant's ambiance strikes a perfect balance between sophistication and comfort, setting the stage for an unrivaled dining experience.
The seafood selection is exceptional. The three kinds of shrimp - each distinct in flavor and texture - this takes some skills The freshness of these shell fish in every bite, a rare find even in a city teeming with seafood eateries. The true star of the show is the fresh crab. Its sweet, succulent meat, paired with a delicate hint of the sea, perfect for sobering up.
Sashimi lovers, like myself, will be delighted by the quality and presentation of the offerings. The cuts are masterful, and the fish's freshness is comparable to what you'd expect in high-end sushi establishments. This is a bold statement in the AYCE circuit, where quality often takes a backseat to quantity. Here, however, the restaurant seamlessly melds the two, offering an abundance of top-tier sashimi.
The dessert - an ensemble of brown sugar grass jelly with peanut and mango - provides a perfect, refreshing end to the meal. A perfect cleanser for a hearty meal. It's rare to find a dessert in an AYCE setting that commands as much attention as the main courses, but this sweet finale does just that. The grass jelly's subtle sweetness, combined with the rich flavor of brown sugar, the crunch of peanuts, and the tropical zest of mango, culminates in a dessert that's both innovative and deeply satisfying. This restaurant doesn't just fill your stomach; it offers an experience that lingers in your memory, urging...
