Read moreTiny window service HK style takeout on Roosevelt, between Main and Prince. Very short line of 1 person ahead of us on the order line on this cold, blustery Sunday afternoon. There were already about a dozen people mulling about waiting for their orders. The order taker spoke Cantonese (actually quite rare in Flushing) and was professional and efficient. To sample the quintessential HK archetype, we ordered a basic wonton noodle and added the stewed beef for $3 more. Soup was clear and packed separately from the wonton noodles and stewed beef. Wontons were acceptable, no shrimp were present in mine. Noodles were crispy, not soggy and the stewed beef was well flavored. Not greasy, not oily, but cut into very small, almost dainty 1/2" x 1/2" pieces, not the traditional large chunks usually served. 3 small stalks of yu choy were also included. $11.50 total for stewed beef, wonton noodle, cash only. Fair for 2025 prices. This seems like another example of the latest and greatest FOMO where "if there's a super long line and bunches of folks are all willing to wait, then this must be great". Good, but not worth a 20-30+ minute wait. Noodletown NY on the Bowery, Wu's Wonton King LES are packed with Tiktok gen hipsters, but still have the right combination of biohazard bathroom + old skool HK, hanging duck greasy spoon we drool over. If there's no line here, thumbs up, otherwise go...
Read moreRight on the heart of Main Street, Flushing lies a small restaurant that serves one of the best Rice Noodle Rolls I have ever eaten! There is no seating in this establishment but that's completely okay.
For only $5, we ordered the large Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls. It was quite busy, so the food took a while to prepare (5-10 minutes), but the wait was well worth it! The rice noodle rolls were cooked to perfection and seasoned with just the right amount of soy sauce. It has been a few days since I have eaten this and I still can't stop thinking about how delicious it was. The rice noodle roll was so easy to eat and it is definitely a must try if you...
