My husband and I have been to this Funny Face location a few times. The first time, I think the owner was there. She and another employee were talking to a woman in front of us for well over 5 minutes, without so much as a glance our way. Finally, the owner acknowledged us, took our order, everything was fine. They have the best oatmeal raisin cookies I've ever had, and are the reason we keep returning. We also got a decorated cookie, which was hard as a rock and not at all worth the money, and a crispy mallow crunch, which was very greasy, basically inedible. The second time we visited, it was a little after 11am on a Friday. We were the only ones in the shop and the woman behind the counter looked annoyed that we were there. She didn't even bother to greet us. I have anxiety and it made me feel incredibly unwelcome, like I should have just walked right back out. The last time we visited, this past Tuesday, a different woman was behind the counter, but she had the same annoyed, bothered attitude and also didn't even bother greeting us. We got two full size oatmeal raisin cookies and four cuties, (two cookies 'n cream cookies, two chocolate chip). The chocolate chip were so hard, I swear I thought I was going to break a tooth. After we left, we decided we probably won't be returning to Funny Face, because the customer service is miserable and unwelcoming. This is sad because they really do have some...
Read moreFunny Face Bakery is hands down now my favorite cookie spot in NYC! For background, I’ve never been here nor even heard of the bakery until digging around at bakeries that did specialty desserts and treats for Valentines Day. The staff was incredibly friendly and helped me pick out the perfect cookies, to which I went with the s’mores and chocolate chip cookie—which is, without a doubt, the BEST chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had. It’s perfectly soft, gooey, and absolutely addictive. If I had some ice cream handy, it would’ve made the perfect pazookie but still absolutely phenomenal. The main reason I came here is because of their specialization and customization of different kinds desserts and treats. In this case I came for their Valentines Day sugar cookies where I got a cookie with “Let’s Get Freaky” very nicely lettered in pink icing design, as a fun and unique way to ask my girlfriend to be my Valentine. It was a huge hit! Their attention to detail when it comes to creativity is very real and you can see how much they care about the place when the cookies taste just as good as they look. Whether it’s for their specialty treats with funny messages, or their regular all-star lineup of cookies you truly CANT...
Read morethis is genuinely the cutest little spot if you’re somebody who loves silly little things like trinkets because I thought the cookies were so adorable! The price really did take me back when I saw $14 for a sugar cookie, but I know how much work and time those designs take and they truly are pieces of art if I’m being completely honest with you. I tried their regular cookies and cream cookie as well as their chocolate chip cookie and I have to say their cookies and cream cookie was a stellar cookie. I genuinely can’t stop thinking about it days later and I need another one and I’m willing to go on a train and a ferry just to get it. The chocolate chip cookie was OK. It kind of tasted very similar to Levain, and I didn’t really think it was worth the seven dollars. The cookies and cream cookie was absolutely delectable and I really do want to try the more creative flavors and see what the sugar cookie hype is about! The staff was also super sweet and I was very appreciative! The vibes were...
