Gaia Masala & Burger New York — Restaurant in New York

A friend and I checked out their lunch special today - it's rare to have a lunch special on the weekend, but it's $14 for a sandwich, fries and drink! Which is a great value.

My friend got the vegan tikka burger, and I got the beef tikka burger. They were good! I'd never have thought to put tikka sauce on a beef burger, but it worked surprisingly well. The curly and regular fries were delicious. (Bear in mind they only have Pepsi products, so if you're a Coke fiend like me, you'll have to smuggle one in your bag.) The service was quick and very friendly, and the restroom was clean, albeit very small (welcome to NYC).

The only thing I could've done without would be the music that was playing - it wasn't my favorite, and it was too loud. I also think the space was kind of dark and gloomy. I'd suggest stringing up some colored lights and decorations to brighten the place up a little!

This is a relatively casual halal food spot with a wide assortment of menu options, mostly with an Indian theme. We were seated immediately, good number of seats inside. We ordered the chili paneer, tikka masala, and the masala pizza. The paneer was super flavorful and delicious with just the right amount of spice. The tikka masala was smooth and savory. We especially enjoyed the gravy of the tikka masala with the masala pizza, which by itself was already deliciously cheesy and soft. Saw this new restaurant and was intrigued by their menu. So glad I gave it a shot! The food was really excellent, I had the chicken fire Tikka burger which definitely lived up to the name: spicy and super flavorful! My friend had the lamb Tikka burger with mild heat, he really enjoyed it. You can order almost any item with your preference of spice level. I also had the chili paneer medium spice which was super tasty. Finally, we ordered the daal mild for our toddler which was absolutely perfect for him and for us.
