Gelateria Gentile - Nolita — Restaurant in New York

Came here with my father and hands down some of the best Gelato we’ve ever had! Everything about this place absolutely blew us away.

The atmosphere was very cozy and comfy and really helped give off a very comfortable vibe, extremely well decorated!

My father ended up getting Pistachio and Vanilla and he thoroughly enjoyed both flavors. He told me that the pistachio really tasted strong and felt like they were made from the real deal rather than the usual artificial flavoring we’re used to. Meanwhile I was less sure about what flavor to get but thankfully the staff were very kind and recommended me some great flavors! I ended up getting the Wild Berries and Dark Chocolate flavor, as recommended by the staff (thanks for that!) and it absolutely delivered. Great recommendation honestly, it was delicious! The chocolate was rich and deep and the wild berries were sweet and tangy and left me wanting more. What great flavor combos!

I also just got to take a second to absolutely rave on about the staff, genuinely some of the nicest most friendly people I’ve met my entire stay in New York! They were so kind and funny, giving good ice cream advice and making everything just a great vibe!

Came here on a Saturday night around 9:20pm. It wasn't busy. When my friends and I were looking at the flavors of gelato, we noticed the flavors were in italian. The workers noticed we were standing for a while and didn't offer any assistance with identifying flavors or help in general. One of the workers with a black mustache seemed to be in a rush when there was no one behind us to serve. He did not have a very nice attitude and was impatient. We ordered two cones and a cup. My cone was not made very nicely. As you can see in the photos the second flavor is at a 90 degree angle. It was holding on, but as you can see it was starting to melt. I believe the worker with the black mustache who served us, was purposefully petty since we took a long time to decide. I asked for a cup after paying because if I didn't the second flavor would've fell off eventually or will melt and drip onto my clothes. Last Friday we had dinner in little Italy and they recommended we try Gentile. The guy gave us some flavors to try, the ones we tried were extremely soft and sweet. The experience was not pleasant.

We were unhappy with the taste and the price the guy told us. But there was a big line in the place, and two of the girls who work there came over to help us.

They were very sweet and apologized for the problem. They gave us other flavors to try.

My husband speaks Spanish, and in the end one girl spoke in English with me and my sisters and the other with my husband and his friends in Spanish, they improved the experience and we decided to buy gelato for everyone.

Without a doubt, I want to highlight this behavior, since it is not common. They had a long line and took the time to listen to our suggestions and give us options, even though there were other people mentioning the same problems.

In conclusion, the gelato was not the best but the service was great.
