Here's a more scathing version of your review:

Zero Stars If I Could - Appalling Service and False Accusations

I've experienced poor customer service before, but nothing prepared me for the absolute disgrace of treatment I received at this establishment.

I arrived to order three simple bagels—THREE BAGELS—and what should have been a two-minute transaction turned into a nightmare of incompetence and hostility. Despite being second in line with only one couple ahead of me, I was inexplicably invisible to the staff. I watched in disbelief as employees repeatedly acknowledged and served customers who arrived after me, blatantly ignoring my presence.

When I finally managed to flag down an employee, they took half my order and simply walked away mid-transaction. By now, the line stretched to the door, filled with people who had arrived well after me but would somehow be served before I could complete my order for three bagels.

Then came the truly shocking part: When I politely asked if someone could finish taking my order, the woman at the register didn't just refuse—she accused me of LYING about being in line, claimed I had "done this before" (I have absolutely no idea what she was talking about), and told me I was no longer welcome in the store. This was a completely baseless, delusional accusation from someone who clearly shouldn't be in any customer-facing role.

To be clear: I was guilty of nothing more than showing mild frustration at being systematically ignored while trying to give them my money. For this, I was slandered, banned, and humiliated.

This store has earned a lifetime ban from me—which, ironically, is exactly what they gave me first. The feeling is mutual. Save yourself the aggravation and take your business literally anywhere...

I ordered eight bagels for pickup to reward my staff, with a mix of flavors and cream cheese options: (4) Plain Bagels with Plain Cream Cheese (1)Sesame Bagel with Scallion Cream Cheese (1) Everything Bagel with Plain Cream Cheese (1) Everything Bagel toasted with Scallion Cream Cheese (1) Plain Bagel with Scallion Cream Cheese A total of (8) bagels What I received: (7) bagels, and the items were not as ordered. (6) Plain Bagels with Plain Cream Cheese (1) Sesame Bagel with Plain Cream Cheese Missing items and incorrect toasting/cream cheese requests from the original order. Since this was a pick up order and I work in LIC, I could not go back to the shop. When I called to report the issue, I was told I that I should have checked my order before leaving and, essentially, I should have unwrapped every bagel to inspect each bagel at pickup. That expectation is unreasonable for a prepaid, packaged order of a large qty. The staff member then said, “Come on, be nice, everyone makes mistakes,” which came across as dismissive, unprofessional, and insensitive. This breakfast was a reward for my staff and the fact that the Got To Get A Bagel Inc staff did not care enough to even try to complete the order correctly is disheartening. This level of service does not reflect the quality I expect from a reputable bagel shop. I do not recommend this store based on this experience and hope management takes immediate action to improve order accuracy and how staff handle customer concerns...

I came in around 9:30 a.m. on a Sunday and ordered the Forest Hills wrap with just turkey. I placed my order directly with the cashier — a white woman — speaking to her face to face. My boyfriend paid for both of our meals, and while he went to find a seat, I waited by the counter for my food. When another staff member handed me my order, the cashier suddenly and loudly asked, “Did you pay?” I responded multiple times that yes, I had, and pointed to my boyfriend to indicate he was the one who paid. She continued to question me, ignoring my responses, until my boyfriend had to call out across the restaurant to confirm payment. Only then did the cashier say, “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t see her pay.” This was especially frustrating since we had just had a full conversation while I placed my order. It felt less like confusion and more like targeted suspicion. As one of the only Black couples in the establishment at the time, the experience felt racially charged and deeply disrespectful. The tone, the public confrontation, and the dismissal of my responses were completely inappropriate. I left feeling embarrassed, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. This kind of behavior should not be tolerated. Staff need to be trained on respectful and equitable...

🛑 Disappointed by Hidden Fees and Poor Treatment I used to enjoy coming here, but after today’s experience, I won’t be returning. When I paid with a credit card, a convenience fee was added—without any disclosure beforehand. The cashier, who gave the name “Miha” but refused to confirm it, didn’t offer a receipt (which is required by law) and became visibly irritated when I asked why I wasn’t informed about the charge. Her only explanation? A sign might’ve fallen. As you can see from the photo—there was no sign in sight. When I calmly asked to speak with a manager, she flat-out refused to call or connect me with anyone. The issue wasn’t the 22 cents—it was the principle. I had a right to make an informed choice about how to pay, and instead I was met with hostility and disrespect. To top it off, the manager Scott couldn’t be bothered to speak with me at all. This used to be a great bagel spot, but transparency, professionalism, and customer care matter. If you value those things, I suggest checking out the better spots nearby—like the one on Queens Blvd and Yellowstone. You deserve to be treated with basic respect. Edited: I just saw similar reviews about the rudeness of the staff from several past customers. No wonder.

Highway Robbery. Watch their prices; they have a scam going on where they have taped up prices posted, but their prices are actually much, much higher. My egg salad sandwich was $2.00 higher than what was posted. Their excuse is that they have to update the prices but they had the same prices last week and the prices listed are on craft paper written with a marker; it would take little effort to update it. The food is also not what it used to be; bagel was bland and tough while the nut cake was old and stale. Save your money and go elsewhere.
