This is more of a specific employee call out. I just moved to this neighborhood and was hoping this could be my regular coffee shop as every time I've been here the staff were great and the coffee is excellent. Today though, no bueno. Whoever took my order today was awful and completely unaccommodating. Asked for the same thing I got the day before and the gentleman had no problem accommodating me then but the woman today just simply refused to give me what I wanted when it was the easiest thing ever. I just wanted a bigger cup since I was getting an extra shot of espresso (quad total). I'm paying for the extra espresso anyway and don't even care if you charge me more for the 16 oz cup too, but a flat out refusal is insane. I mean why won't you just give the customer what they want instead of blatantly saying no twice. So it's just we don't do that. Terrible customer service from this person, it literally felt like she was actually going out of her way to not do it. Even the barista looked confused by this. First time I had seen this employee before. Won't be coming on a Friday morning again and if I see her I will not come in then. Not a cool experience to start off a day. Can't say this has ever happened in my 20 years of Brooklyn...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNow that Iām able to go back and spend more time here I wanted to update my review. The food and coffee are excellent but there are lots of small touches that make hamlet a really special place.
Menstrual products in the bathroom. I wish this were the standard at public restrooms the same way toilet paper is, so itās really considerate that hamlet includes tampons for customers who menstruate.
Music choice. The playlists here are always eclectic but not obtrusive if you want to have headphones in. But Iāll often find myself taking out my headphones to enjoy their selection of nostalgic 2000s songs or whatever theyāve got going.
Ample plugs. I totally understand cafes that donāt want to have plugs so as to discourage prolonged laptop use, but it is really nice to have the option when you need it. And they are thoughtfully placed so as to be within easy reach and no one is fighting for the one available plug.
And the kind staff. Theyāve only got busier as of late, which I can imagine could be tough to juggle but theyāre always very friendly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was in the neighborhood and desperate for my 330 rush of caffeine. Drove a bit out my way to this place because the reviews were great. Upon arrival, everyone in the cafe (customers and staff) looked really happy and at peace here, which is something I look for. The drive was worth it! I tried and LOVED the hot matcha latte (voted popular on their reviews) with honey and half and half (my preferred way of a matcha). I also asked for pastry recommendations and the female barista had informed me that although their best selling pastries were all sold out, the others were still really good. So I got 2! Haha. I got a vegan spiced bread and a vegan banana bread. If Iām not there sooner for their best sellers, Iāll pass on pastries and stick to drinks. I just felt like the ones I got tasted a bit undercooked. But, I am excited to try their pour over because it is an Ethiopian blend and coffee lovers out there know that that stuff is the purest form of...
