Between wandering tourists from the ferry, the patrons and employees of the courthouses, the St. George Theater, and all the businesses and services in the vicinity, the Hyatt Bagel Cafe is a well situated deli. They've got a crew of guys churning out sandwiches and other dishes at a steady pace for breakfast and lunch. They don't serve any pork here, so just be aware of that in case you got a hankering for it. Their cold cuts are going to be beef/chicken based.
I've tried their lox spectacular, and it's a solid take on that deli classic. Put it on a roll or even a hero, and that soft bread makes it taste even better.
Their hot combination 1 pastrami sandwich is tasty, especially if you like a slightly sweeter sandwich. I've had their chopped cheese on a hero, and really liked the chunky ground meat all held loosely together with melted cheese.
There were a few occasions where I or a friend found the amount of meat a little lacking, and sometimes more than we expected. This might be a supply issue, depending on how busy they are.
Anyway, the employees are responsive, they're hustling to get the food made whenever I've seen them. Polite and respectful. The gentleman who usually answers the phone seems like a swell guy.
Though that said, calling them is sometimes a crapshoot. They might pick up on the first ring, they might not pick up after 5 calls. Maybe it depends on how busy they are or if their delivery guy is out, I don't really know.
The store itself is small but has a decent amount of standing room if you're just waiting. There's a few tables further in as well, if you want to dine in. Clean place, doesn't feel too cramped. There's a selection of juices and snacks on one side, and a TV playing in the corner.
Parking nearby is usually down to your choice of metered or paid lot.
Prices feel a tad high, but what isn't these days....
Anyway, very solid deli and I don't think you can go wrong paying a visit and going...
Read moreStopped in here on a whim for a wonderful fried egg+lox cream cheese bagel and had a lovely breakfast with my partner and best friend. The cream cheese was really unique here, a thicker than usual texture and a little bit of a slightly more cultured/aged flavor, like the center of a very soft young brie with none of the funky taste and the creamy fresh tasting butteriness of a neufchatel. Bagels were nice and soft with a generous topping sprinkle, and they use whole eggs on the grill here. Workers were good communicators on order details, cafe smelled great, had great drink options, and had comfy but limited seating. Great little café for a reasonably...
Read moreMy go-to breakfast deli, they are very welcoming. Everything they make has been fresh. Their breads always delicious. I get various items but I do love the western omelet sandwich. French vanilla iced latte large so good. They always listen to instructions and accommodate you the best they could. Be mindful some mornings are busy since their is foot traffic. The owner spends majority of his time at this deli ensuring every customer is satisfied when they leave, he's always welcoming, please be kind and remember we are all human, we all don't walk the same shoes. All the workers do their best and work...
