Nestled conveniently near Chelsea Market, this charming spot offers a delightful dining experience that seamlessly blends vibrant flavors with a welcoming atmosphere. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed, and I can confidently say it’s a must-visit for brunch enthusiasts. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated in the outdoor area, a pleasant surprise given it was a bustling Saturday night. The ambiance was lively yet relaxed, perfect for a night out with friends. Our waitress, hailing from Florida, was an absolute gem—her bubbly personality and attentive service elevated our evening. She expertly guided us through the menu, ensuring we made the best choices for both food and drinks. The culinary offerings did not disappoint. I indulged in the Rosewater Waffle, a unique and flavorful dish that was both aromatic and delicious. Paired with a Negroni, it was an unexpected yet delightful combination. The poached eggs with halloumi cheese and roasted tomatoes were equally impressive, leaving me craving more. Despite the chilly indoor temperature, with doors open to the brisk 65-degree weather, the warmth of the staff and the quality of the food more than compensated. The restaurant’s commitment to serving breakfast all day is a definite plus, allowing guests to enjoy brunch favorites at any time. To top off our evening, the staff surprised us with wine and a cheesecake adorned with a candle to celebrate our friend’s 5-year wedding anniversary—a thoughtful gesture that added a personal touch to our experience. In summary, this establishment offers a harmonious blend of excellent service, delectable dishes, and a vibrant atmosphere. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s a spot that promises not only great food but also memorable moments. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a delightful brunch or dinner experience in the heart...
Read moreMy friend loves coming here for brunch so, we decided to eat here. We tried making reservations the night before but, they were already packed to the gills. When we got there, we were told that the entire party needed to present before they could sit us.
We were seated outdoors and thankfully, they had fans installed otherwise, it would have made the meal unpleasant as the day was HOT.
Charsu ordered the Rosewater Waffle ($15) and Muig ordered the Jack's breakfast ($25). I ordered the chicken prego sandwich $18.
Charsu said the waffle was tasty but, I was quite shocked that they only gave one waffle and the syrup was honey-based. Muig thought the breakfast was basic but, filling. The chicken sandwich was the blandest thing I ever tasted in my entire life. The meat was scraps of smaller pieces and didn't have a single drop of seasoning. I asked for hot sauce and was given a tomatillo based sauce which helped this meager sandwich. I have no idea why this sandwich cost so much because it was basically bread and two small pieces of non-seasoned chicken. They should included avocado or some kind of spread to make this sandwich more palatable. The fries were tasty at least.
We ordered a mint lemonade ($9) which was okay. Charsu got the cantaloupe mimosa ($14) and enjoyed it. Muig got the Bianca ($14) and said it was very watered down. It even looked very watery.
The service was okay and we did have to flag down our waiter a few times to order additional items. One thing we didn't like is that Muig ordered her drink and before she even got it, they asked if we wanted the check. The outdoor seating area was empty, why would someone order a drink and want the check before even getting it? Overall, I thought this place was mediocre for the food quality/taste for the prices they...
Read moreLunch date with the hubs in the city on a Tuesday - it was busy but wait was not too bad. Def not a go-to for a 30 min lunch break unless you come by yourself and sit at the bar.
Food was delicious, I got the Prego Roll and that skirt steak was AMAZING! A little disappointed in the arugula "salad" - would make the dish so much better with some tomatoes in that "salad". Hubs got the Poached Eggs Roasted Tomatoes with Halloumi - it was good but compared to mine, the tomatoes were a bit too overwhelming and took away the other tastes. Also, the portioning is really small with that small toast of bread (filled my hubs tiny stomach but most likely not a bigger belly one). We also got salt &pepper eggplants (I might try to make this myself), a latte (so smooth!), Mint tea (it was pretty and refreshing), Malva Pudding for dessert which was really nice.
Overall, the food was delicious but like every other brunch place in NYC, waaaayyy overpriced for the portion you are getting without a drop of alcohol.
Our waiter was getting near the end of his shift and you could tell he was really tired already - he even burned himself with hot water while trying to refill my drink :(. Also, the place is so tiny and crowded that it's a wonder for them to get around so nimbly. On that matter, the atmosphere was nice, a little loud and you're literally listening to the conversations next to you and you likely will need to suck in your tummy to get around...
