I love all things rice roll, so when I heard about this place I knew I had to try it. Unfortunately, even single time I tried to go, the counter would be packed and the line unnavigable. I would come in, look around for a minute, and give up.
I happened to walk by on a random Monday afternoon, around 12:30 and decided to duck in and check out the situation. Let me add that I was on crutches and toting a very pregnant friend, so I was very lucky to find that there were 2 open seats and no line at all.
At the time, they were already sold out of the Chinese pancake, so we ordered the curry fishball steam rice rolls with scallions and cilantro topped with peanut sauce, and the spicy Chinese crepe with hot dog. The staff actually brought the food over to us - I'm not sure if it was the crutches/pregnant combo or if they are actually this nice, but I didn't expect it for the prices we paid and the location. It felt very food-court-ish.
The curry fishball dish might sound boring (unless you love street/night market food like I do) but it was so delicious. They make the rolls to order, so they were the perfect texture when they served it to us. Sure, curry and peanut sauce is hard to mess up, but have you had badly cooked rice rolls? It ruins the entire dish and leaves a horrible after taste- ruining anything you try to eat after.
The crepe was generously stuffed and full of flavor. It was a bit on the greasy side, but not so much that I couldn't wipe up any residue with just napkin afterwards. Still, it was worth all the effort because I enjoyed the combination of salty and spicy.
I'm definitely planning to come back, probably on a weekday afternoon, as I really want to try their pancake (and have more...

Read moreHONESTLY and REALLLY, this has got to be the best and unique rice roll that I have ever tasted in my life...no kidding, no joke and no OTT.
The rice roll are made to order, so you have to wait between 10 to 30 minutes depending on the time of the day. Arrived just before the lunch hour rush and waited around 15 minutes and the staff/cashier guy or maybe is the boss himself will tell you.
Ordered the shrimp rice roll, add an egg at extra $1 and you also get to choose 3 types of fresh vegetables. I went for the beansprouts, cilantro and scallions.
My recommended way to eat it. First, before pouring the sauce and chili oil, do try it plain first as you can absolutely taste the freshness of everything from the rice roll, egg and to the vegetables. It was so fresh, so healthy. Next, pour the sauce but again go with very little first and add more if you want as you still want to keep the 'freshness' of the roll with every bite. Drizzle a little chili oil as well to get some 'tang'.
They have another outlet at Chinatown, Manhattan and the prices there are slightly higher. I truly recommend visiting the Queens branch for a more authentic experience and also the chance to experience Chinatown in Flushing, Queens.
