I haven’t had Nordic food/flavors too often so I was pretty excited about this bar from what I saw on social media. Immediately walking in, I loved how dark the furnishings were. Super different from what I’ve experienced at other NYC bars.
These were my favorite drinks:
Xandra: a whiskey based drink with elderflower, fennel, honey, jasmine green tea, and absinthe. It's served with candy coated fennel seeds meant to highlight the flavors of the absinthe. It worked for me and it was my favorite of the night!
Oslø: an old fashioned? with cloudberry and cardamom. I love cardamom and this drink was very cardamom forward. I'd come back for this as well.
Lillesand: a gin and tonic drink flavored with lingonberry and cherry. Super easy to drink.
Klar: a coconut milk clarified mezcal drink with lemongrass, juniper, and pineapple. To be honest, I didn't really taste any lemongrass and juniper, but I love coconut milk clarified drinks so this was a hit for me.
While these were my favorite, I genuinely liked all the them.
For food, I just got the baguette with seaweed butter. I love seaweed compound butter so naturally, I liked this as well HAHA I plan on trying the more food once the full menu is available.
Service was great. Attentive and friendly. The bartenders were fun and talked to us about our favorite bars in the city.
Overall, I can see myself becoming a regular here. Creative drinks, stylish space with dark furnishings, great vibes and...

Was in the city for a birthday dinner and we were a bit early for the reservation so we decided to stop around the corner to this little spot. On top of not a soul being in the place, you would think, as a bartender, that people coming in to spend money in your establishment (and that you'd be making money) - you'd be happy. Gabriel. not so much.
very short. one wordy. looked absolutely MISERABLE. not interested in any part of a conversation. as a bartender myself, part of the job is having the conversation - EVEN IF YOU DONT WANT TO. there was a group of 13 of us and we spent a decent amount of money here too. not even a THANK YOU out of his mouth.
i think management needs to have a chat with Gabriel and if he doesn't like his job, he should probably pursue something elsewhere. there are many places to go in the city and we CHOSE to go here. sucks for the establishment as well, because we do these outings often and liked the vibe of the place and would probably have went back, but that killed it for us.
go to the ear inn around the block. better bartenders and much better service. (not to mention,...
Read moreKabin is truly one of New York City's hidden gems! The moment you step inside, you're welcomed by an inviting atmosphere that perfectly blends a cozy, cabin-like charm with a modern, urban flair. It’s the kind of place where you can easily lose track of time while enjoying great company and even better drinks.
Speaking of drinks, the cocktail menu at Kabin is nothing short of exceptional. I highly recommend trying the KOLIO—a beautifully balanced mix of aquavit, tequila, manzanilla, benedictine, herbal liqueur, and bitters, with a touch of saline. It’s a complex and intriguing drink that truly stands out.
For a group experience, the KOS is an excellent option, offering a choice of house-infused spirits with tonic. We tried Option 3—bourbon with earl grey, orange peel, coriander, and local honey—and it was simply divine.
What makes Kabin even more special is the exceptional service. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. They made us feel right at home and offered great recommendations that perfectly...
