Classic old-school steakhouse Knickerbocker Bar & Grill truly stands out amongst the Village, embodying just what New York is about: brilliant food with excellent service and atmosphere. The walls are decorated with paintings and signed New Yorker cartoons, adding to the generally nostalgic vibe. The menu is voluminous, with top-shelf quality dishes to satiate your wildest dreams.
One should begin with the caviar pie, which serves as a delectable appetizer that starts the entire meal. A rich and savory option would include the French onion soup to start off the meal. The main course delivers with its perfectly cooked T-bone steak, elevated by the delightful truffle butter. The creamed spinach is also a staple side that works well with whatever steak dish one orders.
Excellent service with waiters who make you feel part of the family, adding to the historic vibe of NYC. However, what really completes this atmosphere is the performance of jazz. It's just an excellent location for any special occasion. If you do have room for dessert, the soufflé is an impressive ending to an already impressive menu.
All in all, Knickerbocker Bar & Grill is a great dining experience that's well worth the money, especially if you want to go all out and get a taste of old New York in the Village. Highly...
Read moreI love this restaurant and especially on days when there is live music. A very nice, almost family atmosphere. Very friendly staff, good food at reasonable prices and the chocolate soufflé is a dream💖. We were back in NYC for Christmas after 5 years and had a fantastic time. Since our hotel is not far from the Knickerbocker, we went there for dinner on the first evening. Nothing had changed in all those years. The food was great as always and of course we had the delicious chocolate soufflé for dessert. We liked it there so much that we ate there twice in one week and had a drink at the bar almost every evening. The ladies behind the bar are super friendly and contribute a lot to a good atmosphere, which is even better on the weekends with live music. We increased my rating for the food and atmosphere to 5 stars. Since we were a little sad that our favorite waitress, I think her name was Dian or Diane, was no longer there, we only gave the service 4.5 stars. Of course the other waiters were friendly too, but Dian or Diane had a warm, motherly manner and made the guests feel like they were coming home, that's what a restaurant visit is all about. We'll be back in town in August and would love to come back for dinner and more. Best wishes...
Read moreOne might think that I'm 60 years old because of the old neighborhood favorites I've been reviewing lately. But Knickerbocker is a sure shot for a classic, classy brunch with top notch service! It's the perfect place to take your parents to dinner where the swanky dining room is dressed with a baby grand piano and Al Hirschfeld drawings.
This is my favorite place for Sunday brunch because there's never a wait and there are two bread baskets to choose from. Seriously. Just get both!! Ok, on to the high note of KB&G, introducing the caviar pie. The perfectly round molded egg salad is dressed with a creme fraiche layer and then a shiny thick layer of black caviar. The plate is dressed with pea leaves and crunchy toast points. Like Metallica says, nothing else matters (after the caviar pie) except for the chocolate souffle!!! Word to the wise, you should order it at the beginning of your meal because it takes awhile to prepare and bake. It is also a treat to share, unless you want to make it one of your last meals on earth- caviar pie and chocolate souffle. OH, and the truffle blue cheese...
