One star for attention. There is trouble in Wanpo Land. This used to be my favorite boba shop. For as long as Vincent was there. He made the best drinks in all of their top sellers. From milk tea and brown sugar milk tea to their fruity plum green tea.
But since he left, the drinks have been getting worse and worse. It keeps getting sweeter and sweeter, even though my request request remains the same: no sugar (because there’s already sugar in syrups they use). I get the same excuse that Anjelique Ramos got too, that the set stuff is pre-made. I hate to say this, but I’m really beginning to think it is the staff. She means well, but it’s really not working. They used Uji Koyamaen Matcha, one of the most prestigious matcha providers in Japan. It gave the matcha drink a deep, rich green color which hinted at its exceptional fragrance and delicacy. The red bean and jelly added a unique sweetness and textural contrast. There were still a good amount of toppings sinked at the bottom after I gulped my matcha latte.
Wanpo has now become one of my fav boba shops in NYC after I’Milky. Tbh the cup size was much smaller than I thought. Yet I’m still willing to splurge on their drink ($9+) because I wanna make sure I’m getting the best quality...
