At first approach, the ambience iterates a traditional Mediterranean ocean view cocktail and tapas appeal with the friendly Greenwich village hostess inviting and hospitable. The wait staff inside was there to let you know that your experience will be the exact opposite. Our lovely server became instantly frustrated with our not knowing immediately what drinks we would assume, and the server for our food let it be known that if we don't give him our full order immediately, that we will be waiting 'for a long time' for our entrees after the appetizer course. After apps hit the table, we enjoyed approximately 2-3 bites before the server was skidding up to the table asking for our order. I am fully aware of what a restaurants ambitions are when it is ' walk-in only' but for the sake of building a hospitable image of your establishment in the view of your community, I strongly suggest patience at every opportunity when it comes to pleasing guests. Finally, after enjoying a delicious journey into some Mediterranean home style attire, alas, there was nothing but chatter and dirty glares from the servers station as we we're informed that it was 'impossible to split the bill' as the POS system had been completely reconfigured that morning. As I have been in the food industry for many years, I find there to be no excuse for any segment of your restaurant establishment to be anything but fully accommodating to any and all guests. The food was 'good', the service was 'trash', my 'company' was the only thing...
Read moreToday I was eating breakfast at the Butcher's Daughter next door. Towards the end of my meal while waiting for my check a male whom I assume is the owner or manager of Meme came up behind me to notify me that my chair leg had crossed into his side of the sidewalk for outdoor seating. I turned back confused but moved my chair a little bit not thinking anything of it. This man proceeded to berade me with demands of moving my chair, table and to sit in the chair opposite of the one I was in simply because it was on 'his' sidewalk. He was very rude and indignant to the point that the amazing staff of the Butcher's Daughter came over asking the man to leave me alone and allow me to finish my meal without being verbally attacked. He continued to argue with the staff and myself to the point that all others eating were now watching as I began to cry from embarrassment and the uncomfortablness of the situation. What started as a lovely breakfast next door ended with me crying due to this man who felt the need to berade, argue, raise his voice at and embarrass me, all because my chair leg was a fraction over into his seating area. I have never had such an experience as this and will say that I'm not shocked the place was essentially empty. With an owner or manager such as that I would never want to eat there. If you want a great eating environment...
Read moreAvoid- Rude staff. We came to a mostly empty restaurant with plenty of seating indoor and outside. We told them we’d only want “drinks and maybe some appetizers.” They told us we needed to order immediately because the kitchen would close in 15 minutes. We couldn’t decide in that time so we told then we decided to stick with drinks, and the waiter removed the bread from the table LOL. Are you going to just throw it away or serve it to another table? Hilariously rude.
Next, a different waiter came over and said that “next time you need to order food not just drinks.” I asked him if it was a price thing because we were planning on ordering drinks (we ordered four drinks which was 75 bucks). He said rudely “no because this is a restaurant, not a bar.”
I understand if it’s crowded and you want to reserve tables for full dining - or if you have a legitimate rule- but this was at 3pm with no wait and barely and customers, and I did say our intentions up front and the waiter told us the kitchen was about to close. Also with tip we spent close to 100 dollars. Unnecessarily rude and won’t be coming back. (Look up low reviews here- they all mention rude waiters). Even the way they respond to...
