So Tasty!!! UPDATE again: returned 3rd time on 3-5-2022. Again this place was perfect. Best food and best service in town. Again Henry was our server. He is the best in town. He loves food and is super knowledgeable. He recommended many dishes for us. She wanted a Caesar salad which they do not offer, but he had them make her one somehow. She said it was made with rainbows and sunshine and loved it. Granddaughter had artichoke ravioli which she loved as well. Made with a rich beef brown sauce that is full of flavor. Desserts were the best. I had the Grand Marnier souffle and the pistachio souffle. She had the Oeuf a la Neige which is the photo with the gold spun sugar and the white "island" underneath. It is heavenly. This is one of the best places in town and very romantic with lots of "marriage points" for me. Be sure to check out all of the living rooms attached to the Restaurant for a drink before or after dinner. There are a lot of them so don't just stop in the bar out front, Be sure to explore all of the living rooms. They are really great with lots of private spaces and they smell terrific!!! We love this place. UPDATE: returned on 2-7-2022 and it was 5 stars again. They offered the 3 course meal for $145 and it was well worth it. Maria started with snails in round fried balls with sauce INSIDE which were really tasty. I started with salmon tartare which was really good. She had a half chicken for dinner. The brought out the whole chicken before cutting it up which was a nice presentation. See photos. A half chicken is a lot of chicken but she gave me some and I loved it. Very juicy with lots of flavors. I had the rack of lamb served rare which was cooked perfectly and LOTS of meat. I loved it. Desserts again did not disappoint. We had one soufflé (we should have ordered all 3) and the chocolate mouse and meringue ball (I am not sure what it is called so show them the photo). All of the desserts are super fabulous. Great date night, very romantic, lots of marriage points for me!!!! We LOVE this place and will be back many times. Perfect service and lovely room. ORINGINAL REVIEW: Great food, great service and a glorious setting. Very romantic, but also great for bigger parties. Henry was our server and he has been in this business longer than most and is more knowledgeable than most in the food industry. Started off with the snails. Their interpretation is the best I have ever had. Each one is rolled in some breading or dough, Fried and then presented on whipped potatoes with a fantastic sauce on top. Very original and the best I have had. She had the Salmon "Duo" which was salmon 2 ways. Smoked with lots of smokey flavor and also as a tartare with green apples. Again very original and super delicious. Main courses I had the famous Dover sole. Excellent. She had the filet which was perfect. For desserts we had the chocolate mousse which was light and dark chocolate taste which we loved. I love souffle so I ordered the Grand Mainer. It was super good. The couple in the next booth told me they also loved the Pistachio and the Chocolate Souffles. The final moment was reserved for the Oeuf A La Neige. I had no idea what that was but check out my photos below and look for the yellow ball filled with white cloud like meringue like insides. I am still not sure what it was but it was like eating a slice of heaven. Best of the best. I cannot stress to you how good it was. it is inside the Lowell Hotel and is attached to 2 other rooms that also offer different foods and drinks. Follow us if you like. Check out all of our reviews. Read moreThis is the most exceptional dining experience my husband and I have ever had in NYC, and one of the best in our life (we've lived here for 6 years and been to many of the top restaurants). When we visited for the first time, we knew it was where we had to have our micro wedding dinner and reception. From the moment we first met Jekaterina (Kate), she was friendly, respectful, impeccable in her attention to detail and very responsive (almost instantaneous). A consummate professional, she ensured our wedding dinner experience in The Club Room was exquisite and delightful in every day.
What separated this place from the many outstanding 5-star NYC restaurants for us was that every staff member was personable, sincere and down-to-earth in addition to providing exceptional service and unparalleled food. We felt truly welcomed and invited to stay and enjoy our time there. The lamb chops melted in your mouth, the champagne was divine and and flowing and the chocolate dessert had outstanding depth of flavor.
When our plans to do our first dances in Central Park changed the day of the wedding due to the weather, Majorelle seamlessly and graciously moved some furniture to make a space for us to dance. It made for an iconic and intimate moment, as if we were in someone's luxurious living room celebrating the start of our new lives together. My new French in-laws and my American family could not have imagined a more stunning place to toast to our special day, and the photos from the evening simply take our breath away. On top of all this, the entire place bursts with the scent of fresh flowers, which are massive and refreshed regularly throughout the hotel lobby and restaurant. It is nothing short of a dreamy floral timeless escape from the daily life of NYC. Thank you to Jekaterina and the entire Majorelle staff for enhancing the magic and beauty of our big day. We can't wait to come back...
Read moreMy bf and I took my mom out for a fun afternoon tea at the Majorelle. Unfortunately, comparing to our other afternoon tea experience in the city, the food and service were both disappointing. As I read thru the review on Google, many people spoke so highly about the warm scones. I was looking forward to trying them. However, they served three different flavors, I stopped after trying half because they are just so dry and hard. The sandwiches were extremely basic, cucumber, chicken curry, lobster and egg sandwich. None of those really stood out to us. The pear puff was the only highlight of the pastry. And another star goes to their delicious green tea.
The service was not attentive at all, even rude. Our server was 6 feet tall male, dark hair, wearing black frame glasses. There was no welcome, nor introduction or greetings. The entire time service was very cold and lack of even politeness, came off as arrogant tbh. He never refilled our tea once. The only time he smiled was after tipping, so frankly he didnt do much to deserve that. The one star of service goes to all the other servers who has been help refilling a little. But most of the time, we did it on our own. I do have to say the managers are all super professional and attentive. Maybe training needs to improve on servers. All in all, this is not the service we expect from a top afternoon tea place in the city.
Also the size of the main afternoon area is quite small. Just felt kinda tight and a little noisy if you are close to a big group. The real flower arrangement was beautiful.
Overall, we would not...
