Today I ordered platter 3 from their menu, which included rice, mezbani beef, nola beef with buter daal. I also ordered beef jhura bhuna. I ordered for takeaway. It was the first time I ordered from this restaurant since, as a Chatgaiya myself, I couldn’t resist trying mezbani food. But I am highly disappointed with their quantity, quality, and packaging of food.
Come to the taste first because for a Chatgaiya, mezbani is not just a food but it’s an emotion. Even if the taste were even close to mezbani, I would not have written this review today, but nothing was on point about this purchase. This kind of restaurant should shut down since it’s a betrayal to the customers.
The taste of the mezbani food was not even close to mezbani. I cook better mezbani at home without proper ingredients compared to this. If you are a Chatgaiya, you know mezbani beef is never eaten with basmati rice. It's always boiled rice you serve with mezbani. And they served basmati rice with this platter, saying it's the authentic mezbani. You are naming it mezbani and selling normal beef curry and butter daal. That’s not all; they said there would be nola beef buter daal, but they only served buter daal without any hints of nola in there. It doesn’t even taste like nola. Oh my god, how are they even doing business? That’s a betrayal.
The quantity was so small that after opening it, I couldn’t believe my eyes for a second. Is it even possible for a restaurant to sell a Bengali portion like this? I wish I would have taken a picture, but I was so angry that I forgot. I am not a person who reviews and rates, but I couldn’t resist myself this time. The portion of curries was not even enough to fill a ketchup bowl. That’s how small the portion was. Enough for a five-year-old, though.
I wish I could at least say something good about the packaging, but the way they packaged it, the whole box was covered with oil.
Coming to the price, that platter was $20. If I break down the whole plate, 80% was rice and 10% mezbani beef and 10% buter daal. According to portion, taste, price, and packaging, how do they consider the price of $20? And it’s not about price; I am willing to pay more for mezbani, but it was not mezbani, not by the taste and not by the portion.
Please stop betraying people by opening this kind of business. I would never...
Read moreTried Mezban House for the first time on Mothers day as a surprise treat from the husband. Never going back to Jackson heights or Hillside! This place has my heart! Pros: Did you see the plates and pots? Lol enough said! The food is dynamic! Heavenly flavors, on point in every dish from the beef bunas, to the fried fish, bhorta and daal. I personally love the Platter concept - a single platter offers 2-3 items plus rice. Excellent choice to try different dishes in small portions. The tea - vah! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 I would visit just for the tea and dessert if anything. Main courses and tea is exceptional 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Cons: the Chicken lollipop came out raw on the inside with no flavor *see pic. Did not include a dipping sauce. The spring rolls were cold on the inside. The menu had several typos and mistakes. For example, the nuggets did not include fries, but it said it did. The chicken lollipop said it comes with 4pcs but the waiter advised it was 3. Advice would be to give some more time on the appetizers as they seem to have been rushed out of the door. Also please revise and correct the menu to avoid disappointing the guests, however the host was on point in correcting before we placed our order. The host also graciously said they would re-cook the appetizers, pack it for home at no cost, however it was forgotten. I believe the host is overwhelmed - there should be waiting staff, especially on weekends + special holidays.
Overall, love love love Mezban house and recommending to all my...

Their beef combos are another highlight. Whether it’s the Kalabhuna, Chui Jhaal, or the Chatgayya Mezbaan, these dishes are exceptional.
