My first visit here, and it surely won’t be my last. I love the food, service, and calming, tranquil atmosphere.

The sushi- I ordered the “4 handrolls for $27”. I asked if I could have it as maki-style rolls, and the response was wonderful-a simple, “yes, we can do that”. No fuss, but smooth as silk.

I chose rolls of: spicy tuna, spicy salmon, a yellowtail and scallion, and an eel with avocado. Please see my photos-the sushi presentation was LOVELY. The soy sauce is low-sodium-yay! And the ginger and wasabi were very nice. Chopsticks-lovely; they are not the wooden disposable, but rather the dark, and lovely real chopsticks, not to be tossed away.

Service-very nice and attentive. I saw water glasses being refilled without anyone asking. When I asked for more ginger, it was brought to me quickly.

Atmosphere-The calmness- For example, the restaurant design, and art on the walls, I find calming. When I look across from my table, I feel like I’m looking at the zen-like sand that you may see on a person’s coffee table, or desk at work, but this is a framed design which reminds me of those calm, zen-like sand pieces.

In brief, yes, I enjoy d my meal here, and I can happily recommend MIKADO, here on Lexington Avenue, near East 62nd Street. It’s between East 61st and East 62nd Street, but closer to East...

I’ve ordered from Mikado previously but was extremely disappointed and frustrated with my most recent experience. I ordered my food on their website for pickup and when I went to get my order they said it had already been picked up. The staff definitely gave my order to someone else and would not provide me a refund and said I would have to pay again to have my food remade. They were completely clueless on how to provide a refund and told me to call my credit card and I submitted a missing order via their website which I never got a response after waiting the 48 hours mentioned. After realizing doordash was their merchant, I called them for a refund and they said since it had been 3 days past, they couldn’t give me a refund. I went through the process with my credit card and they denied the claim since doordash said the order was picked up which again the staff gave my food to someone else and marked it as picked up. So now I paid money for not receiving my food just because the staff was clueless and did not know the process of giving a refund, did not even offer store credit or to remake my food. So don’t bother wasting a month’s time to get your money back because you won’t
will never return here again which sucks because the food was...

The experience was okay till it wasn’t. I usually go to Mikado on 14th and decided to try this location and I do regret that choice unfortunately. Upon entering everyone was really kind, as I was getting seated I was asked still or sparkling water I said still tap water. I was brought out their water bottles and before I can say anything it was already cracked opened and poured out. I waited till our actual server came around to let him know I wanted tap water which he didn’t mind bringing out but I was still charged $7 for the water. After explaining multiple times that I didn’t ask for that so I shouldn’t be charged, a manager finally came and took it off the bill

Aside from that, the food itself in portion size was a lot smaller compared to the other location and not nearly as fresh. When asking for a to go box our server came back and told us that for happy hour there are no to go boxes allowed which fully shocked me since I was given a to-go box at the other locations every time I have gone

Bottom line, the food wasn’t the absolute worst but definitely wasn’t the freshest. I would recommend just trying the other...

As a frequent omakase-er, I’ve got a high bar for fish. Mikado has got it in spades. Located in a sleek, understated spot in the UES, this location’s interior design elements are simple at first glance. However, once you spend a few minutes in the space interacting with staff, you’ll notice a keen focus on quality and detail, from glassware/utensils and lighting elements/heavy marble tables to smaller notes like hand lotion in the restroom. However, Mikado’s main attraction is the fish and food, which is delightful and thankfully matches up with the high reviews already populating their page. Highly suggest coming at an off-hour for a late lunch to take advantage of their lunch specials to indulge in some of their best cuts. Hit up the 4-roll lunch special and order the toro scallion, scallop yuzu, salmon ikura, and uni wagyu rolls for a balanced sampling. We also indulged in the salmon ikura don, some salmon sashimi, and the sweet & spicy chicken katsu lunch. Special thanks to Alvin for making our meal seamlessly paced and well-attended.
