Off Peak Coffee in Flushing is the kind of spot that feels refreshing to have in the neighborhood. I went for the pistachio latte, and it was excellent smooth espresso, creamy whole milk, and a pistachio foam that gave it just the right amount of sweetness and nuttiness. It felt balanced, not overly sugary, and definitely more thoughtful than the average flavored latte.
The shop itself is modern and minimalist, with a clean design that makes it feel calming even when itās busy. You can tell they take their coffee seriously the espresso has depth, and the drinks taste like theyāre made with quality beans, not something rushed or mass-produced. Prices are on the higher side compared to the many small cafĆ©s around Flushing, and the portions arenāt huge, but the care that goes into each cup makes it worth it.
What stood out most was how nice it felt to sip something like this in Flushing, a neighborhood better known for food than coffee. Off Peak fills that gap by offering drinks that actually taste elevated, not just āgood enough.ā For me, the pistachio latte alone makes it worth coming back, and Iām already planning to try more of their menu. Itās a great little place for a morning pick-me-up or a calm afternoon stop when you want a drink that feels just a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited this place shortly after they just opened and had a few concerns regarding the service. I ordered a matcha latte, which had pretty decent quality & a good ratio of both ingredients despite its size being smaller than most coffee shops. However, the process of receiving my drink was extremely confusing as my order was mistakenly handed to another customer, and there was visible uncertainty among the staff as an extra cup of matcha latte remained unclaimed. One of the employees called out drinks in Mandarin, but what were saying was difficult to understand due to language barriers. He was later discussing the issue with another employee who was just as confused while I continued to wait in line with other customers. Eventually, another employee came and spoke english, and it sounded like they didnāt check the ordered numbers and just handed out drinks to whoever was standing closest to them. This was due to many people being crammed in the store with others having nowhere to stand. (so they end up moving around) Afterwards, they ended up handing me another customers drink but was offered no explanation on the matter, the employees involved just continued staring at me. Not sure if Iāll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThey have a seasonal menu where they rotate a few drinks out of the 5 things they have. It was about $6-$7 for a one-size small cup, I got the Berry Jazz, you can definitely taste the cherry from the beans they use. It was not bad, definitely more of a one-time try thing for me. We also got the Uji Matcha Latte, it did not taste anything out of the ordinary or special for a matcha latte.
The cap situation for the drinks could be improved; if you decide to do use a cover for your drink, have the employee cap it for you itās a little challenging and a messy process if you do it yourself. We shouldāve asked the employee to help mix the matcha for us because it was a messy process to swirl it around with no stick and with the weird cap situation, it would spill and would not mix well because thereās a lot of ice. Make sure to take some napkins with you when you get the matcha because it may get on your nose (we sure got it on our nose multiple times).
This place has limited space so itās highly a take-out spot. The interior is nice and appealing! Might return to try another drink because of the...
