So..I had my son's first birthday party this past Sunday at Mulan and I have some highlights and some not.
Service was great! Anything I needed Andy and team got for me quickly and at no hesitation. high chairs, table for face painting, packed food for take home etc..
We got the open bar package and bartenders were always avail, my guests drank all night with lots of shots and they were always avail.
Decorations were on point everything looked beautiful as always.
What I wasn't too thrilled about was the food. Maybe I didn't choose the right menu but I got fried rice and it was too hard and no flavor. The seafood paella was too mushy. The flounder was lack in flavor. I did like the perking duck, the steak and fried chicken.
Moreover, the waiters could be more warming, there were no smiles and foods were taken away from tables too quickly my guests were complaining that they didn't even finish the dish and it was taken away without even be asked if they wanted to take them home. My guests and including myself had to tell the waiters to pack them to go and then they did it but overall they should give people more time to eat.
Overall, I enjoyed the venue and my guests had fun but if you are looking for a place with great foods then Mulan is not it. If you are looking for contemporary, clean, and beautiful venue then Mulan is it. Andy, the event coordinator was great! He was helpful from the beginning to end. Any changes I made he made happened and was very accommodating. I wish the others would be more like him. Hope in the future Mulan prefect their menu, give people more time to eat and get waiters who smiles and...
Read moreThis is a huge and crowded dim sum restaurant. The place seems pretty clean. The men's room was, too, although some of the ladies complained about their facility. As expected, servers circulate with dim sum, some delicious, some not my thing. The shrimp dim sum I had featured whole 'large' shrimp and were very tasty. Pork buns were terrific, as were soup dumplings. Pork wrapped in what seemed to be pastry dough was also great. My daughter is a tapioca fan, and she said the tapioca dumpling was terrific. Longevity noodles were flavorful and chock full of mushrooms and tender beef. A member of our party is a native speaker of Chinese. I would have been lost without her. Servers were impatient, and only brought a second glass of water begrudgingly, and called the manager over when someone else asked for more water. (We did get the water, I guess there may have been a misunderstanding? They even brought us extra tea we didn't request. I don't understand.) A large lunch for five adults was $80; I think they may offer specials but we didn't partake. Try to get there by public transportation unless you are more patient driving than I. The neighborhood is very crowded and parking is at a premium. I noticed a sign saying 'two hours of parking $4" but I couldn't read any of...
Read moreI came here with my mom on a weekend in Aug 2018 and it was pretty great! I have finally found a dim sum place in NYC that I would return to. The only downside is that it's quite far from Manhattan so I don't know how often I would come here (and when I go to Flushing, I always like to food hop). Anyway, we arrived around 11:30AM and had to wait about 20 minutes to get a table. We were okay with a shared table too; this place is super popular! Here, they still push carts around and most of the items we ate were quite hot still. We ordered shrimp and leek wrapped in skin, fried salty dumplings, baked BBQ pastries, daikon cake, seafood dumpling soup, and spring rolls. There was really good variety, and some dishes were ones I've never seen before at dim sum places. All small, medium, and large items are $3.50, which is great, and tea is $1 per person. Basically all items we got were medium except for one, and our bill came out to be a bit more than $27 post-tax pre-tip. For 6 plates of food that made both of us really full (we also took most of one dish home), this was definitely a great deal. There's also a valet parking lot right under it, and it's $4/2 hours if you eat here and ask for a stamp. I'll definitely be wanting to come back; we'll see if I actually make...
