PLS EVERYONE BE VERY CAREFULL ABOUT THIS TRICKY PLACE!!! I was in the area with a friend just for an aperitivo, and because every other place was very busy at the time, we noticed that strangely there were still many outside tables there, so we sat and ordered. We got some fried calamari (the youngest was frozen during the First Ice Age), but we were there mostly to drink, so we ordered a bottle of wine. Since everything seemed overpriced, we ordered the cheapest bottle on the list "Greco" that was $46. When I ordered I pointed the wine on the wine list to make sure that the waitress understood my choice. When she brought the bottle she said "Here's your Greco di tufo" and served the wine. I was talking to my friend so didn't really understandf what she was saying, neither I paid attention to the label of the wine, cause no matter what, we didnt know any of the wines on their list. Surprise Surprise! when i got the bill I got charged 90$ for the wine! When I asked clarification to the waitress , she told me that I had a bottle of "Greco di tufo" and that was the cost. Now understand that the CHEAPEST WINE they serve is call "Greco" and the MOST EXPENSIVE ONE, at the very end of the list, so very far away from where I indicated with my finger, is called "Greco di Tufo"... then she said "when I brought the wine to the table I told you it was Greco di Tufo" When I asked to speak to the manager, cause the whole situation was too tricky (it was very intentional to me), it was very shady and fishy... they replied me that there was no manager and no one could have done anything about it. FOOD WAS GARBAGE BY THE WAY... wine was ok (for 90$ duh!!!!) AVOID GETTING SCAM! there're so many other great place in the area. Next door! Across the street (they were all busy... NOW I FIGURE HOW COME!) THSI IS JUST A TOURISTS TRAP! AVOID IT! AVOID...
Read moreMy wife has seen several travel videos from other 'foodies' rave about the restaurant. So we paid a visit recently during our trip to visit the Fulton Market area. We arrived without a reservation and were seated within 5 minutes. However, we arrived on Saturday before 5:30pm. However, by 6:30pm the upstairs was full. Reservations are recommended since it very popular.
Quiet simply, each dish was perfectly balanced and tasty. We all agreed the meal was excellent and brought us the flavors of Italy we experienced when in Rome. The Rigatoni Alla Norma was delicious. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the sauce with pieces of eggplant were married well and overall was extremely delicious. The Cavatelli Alla Salsiccia had ample of hearty Cavatelli pasta and sausage. The Paccheri All Agnello was a unique pasta dish with tender lamb cooked with a wine based sauce. We ordered a Mediterranean Salad to start of the meal. It arrived with tasty fita, Greek olives and nutty olive oil. Writing about it makes me hungry. I highly recommend this gem....
Read moreI got the calamari as an appetizer and the crab linguini pasta for entree. The calamari was very chewy, but the sauce they gave with it was tasty and hot as in temperature. The pasta looked unappealing, but the taste slightly made up for it. It was also luke warm. The food is not worth the price. Could get better pasta and calamari for cheaper at better restaurants.
I waited a while for bread to get to the table, and it was relatively empty inside. My server was good, but the busser was not the best. He would intrude into my space, reaching to grab plates without asking first. This wouldn't be an issue if he wasn't so close to me everytime he grabbed a plate. Then he placed new utensils right onto the table without a napkin. Again it wouldn't be an issue if there was some type of cloth on the table or he wiped down the table before placing new silverware. But I guess that's why they have a B health rating. I also went during the middle of the day which might change service and how well the...
