Yesterday I attended a reading sponsored by the “Atlantic Reads: the author was Walter Mosley and his new book is Gray Dawn. Mr. Mosley is very kind, a genius, and he shares with the audience, his life and his compassion and his thanks. He finished a wonderful Q&A and then he signed his books for the people. This was held at McNally Jackson books on the South St., Seaport number four Fulton St in New York City. This book store is worthy of a visit. They protect the authors and they protect their clients. They have a wonderful café that makes delicious, hot or cold coffee, latte, etc. the bathrooms are clean and everyone has a smile waiting for you. Atlantic festival was in New York from September 18 through the 20th and I went back to McNally Jackson today Saturday and purchased the book written by Allison Roman. Unfortunately, Miss Roman could not stay to Sign her books for the people. She gave a wonderful reading and a wonderful talk and she has a beautiful book. I was disappointed because it is a gift for someone, but I am sure the person that I give this book to Will love it. I am adding for you all some pictures of other things that happen in New York with the Atlantic festival. The Atlantic is a very important magazine. I will suggest that you go through these photographs that I’m sending and subscribe to the Atlantic and that way you will have an understanding of events shaping our world at this time and you will know what they are doing. I know for sure that you will be happy. As far as the South Seaport in New York if you have not been there or you Are thinking about visiting the south Seaport, please do there’s so much going on there and in the streets, the cobble street. Oh, and there is a photograph of a gentleman who is a photographer who has done some really good photographs and videos while he was working at the festival. Take a look at his stuff. I took a photograph of his name so someone at this event can...
Read moreThis lady was SO rude. We were waiting for our mom who was using the restroom and were on our way out of the store. She aggressively approached my younger brother and said, “our store is closed use the bathroom at canes!” My brother said, “I’m waiting for my mom” she said she didn’t care and said leave! My brother waited for our mom and proceeded to leave the store while asking her to not give us attitude. She shoved, and when I say shoved she SHOVED, the door open, hitting the opposing wall, then slammed it shut. My little brother and mom walked out of there at 9:04pm. 4 minutes after closing. Her attitude and approach is so uncalled for. Not only did she yell at us, but she yelled at our friend who was in there at 9:01pm. So what if I was buying a book but the transaction was taking longer and the time went past 9pm, would she have refused to let me purchase a book? It’s not like we were lingering around for 20-30 minutes. Her treatment was unfair and completely baffling. What if my mother who didn’t understand English was all by herself inside? Would she have yelled at her too? Ridiculous and rude. Loved this book store and think it has a great selection of wonderful books. I’ll definitely go back, but if I see her working, I won’t set foot inside. My only regret is I wasn’t able to get it in video. I hope the owner or manager sees this and can see their security footage to see how rude...
Read moreThis place has a huge selection of books. The decor and the staff in both the cafe and the book area are very lovely and helpful. The cafe serves delicious coffee and pastries. It’s very clean and I enjoy how cozy and comfortable it is. It was a bit confusing at first, because the downstairs area has less books and I didn’t know there was an upstairs. But I was blown away by the size and selection when I made my way up the stairs.
I come here to do my work with an iced latte some days. The cafe does not have wifi however, so you usually have to use a hotspot if you want to do work on a computer. Even my friends who are not coffee drinkers enjoy the sips they take from my glass and order one for themselves. I brought some friends in today to have a little wine date and both the house red and the house white were delicious. My friend who does not enjoy wine enjoyed the sips she had from our carafe.
I unfortunately dropped one of the glasses that was given to me for my wine and my barista cleaned the mess up immediately. He was incredibly attentive and made sure my friend did not hurt herself when she tried to pick up the pieces. I was very embarrassed when it happened but the he was very understanding and replaced my spilled drink for me. I wish I got his name, but he...
